I just got the Asus Strix 1080, for my new Ryzen build.

Can't get it a lick past 2040mhz on the core, and memory 1321. Even when I try just 10mhz faster it crashes.

But I got a decent 3dmark score: 7918 http://www.3dmark.com/spy/1638278

been very unlucky with gtx 1080's. I've had 4 so far. (strix, two FE's then gigabyte blower style cooler) and what's funny is the cheapest card, without a backplate, crappy cooler, the gigabyte turbo gtx 1080 on my ryzen build is the best overclocker. gets 2120mhz at stock voltage smh. my other cards barely hits 2050mhz with max voltage rolleyes.gif

I've been away from benching for a while... but the urge is catching up!

So since there isn't any bios editor for Pascal, I figured my best bet would be to try to flash the Asus Strix T4 bios onto my FE card.

I power modded the card with liquid metal. It's water chilled (Hailea HC-500A), so I can get water temps under 10C and bench around 2200-2215 fairly easily. But that 1.093V limit is annoying me...

Has there been reports of bricked FE's after flashing to the T4 bios? I haven't seen any, it seems to have a good success rate... (famous last words) biggrin.gif

Any last minute warnings? tongue.gif

Well, thanks for all the warnings! tongue.gif:D

Finally flashed the Asus Strix T4 bios onto my FE card. It opens up max core voltage to 1.2V (vs 1.093 previously).

So without any further ado, I shall retake the crown of the absolute fastest 5960x + GTX1080 Time Spy Score on Futuremark with this:

=== 8 9 2 1 ===

5960x @ 4600MHz
1080@ 2303MHz Core / 5556 MHz Mem
Water chilled by Hailea HC-500A (Water temps between 7.3-7.9C during benchmark run)

Line up here for autographs.

EDIT: and just for the lulz, here's the global HWBOT rankings page for all Time Spy scores with 5960x and GTX 1080: Looky Looky! (yeah, that dragonmike dude, that's me tongue.gif

Core => 2228MHz
Memory => 11088MHz
Vddc = 1.181V

Bios => ASUS Strix OC t4 ( Version 86.04.17.00.76) => No more power limit, voltage manageable until 1,2V
+240MHz on core clock (Base clock at 1607MHz) and tweaking of the curve to have 2228MHz at 1.181V.
+595MHz on memory => 11088MHz memory frequency.
Fan speed of the AIO WC of the card set to 70%

Results :
- The card never dowclocks neither in games neither in benchmark => Stable core frequency at 2228MHz and stable memory frequency at 11088MHz
- Maximum core temperature around 53°C at 20°C ambient (Depending on the game) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Maximum bench core frequency 2253MHz at 1.2V !
Graphics score => 8629pts

What's the speed at 1.075V on your power curve?
Do you change it for different benchmarks? My best curve differs per benchmark.

No, i don't change.
I apply 240MHz in MSI AB on core frequency.
Then, i tweak the curve as you can see for 2228MHZ at 1.181V.

If I set +245MHz, I crahs or artefact in timee Spy.

+240MHz on core is the absolute maximum I can add without problems.

concerning your question for 1.075V, I think it is 2138MHz or 2151MHz.
Sorry, I am not at home and can't checj precisely.

Your curve is much more better if I remember.

My curve is based on the standard power curve. I raise the core curve unaltered until 1.075V = 2151MHZ. [+77MHz in my BIOS]. If 1.075V is also 2151MHz on your curve, they are practically identical until I spike mine up to 2227MHz@1.093V. My card can't hold 2227 for long, but it's the only way it will run @2214MHz.

I can't run a spiked curve in Time Spy. I have to run a rounded curve with a max of 2176. I don't know why. headscratch.gif

I don't know which curve I posted above.
It is different from the one I checked some minutes ago doh.gif

Here is the good one:

The flat curve starts at 2038MHz at 1.043V until 1.175V

i wonder if I would try another gtx1080Ti, or, to get a new Gigabyte GTX1080 Xtreme Gaming WATERFORCE to make a SLI.
With thios OC Strix Bios t4, as the card is on water, it helps to raise frequzncy and to reach nice overclocks even in SLI.
Silicon lottery with 1080Ti seems so boring....
