Yes, the ACX version does a good job...nice balance of noise and temps. At stock it is noticeably more quiet than my Titan X was and maintained temps in the 70's even in extended gaming sessions. Only lasted a couple of days before I put it under water tho, I think jayztwocents has a review of that card on YT.

Full cover EK block arrived yesterday so I removed the Thermosphere and installed that, I can confirm that the EVGA backplate that came on my SC ACX version works very well with the EK block, no additional hardware needed to install it. The m2.5x7 screws that come with the EK block are all thats needed and there are 6 screw locations that allow mounting of the EVGA backplate when the EK full cover block is installed (one on the top corner required a nut and washer that was also included with the EK block).

For me thats a big win as I much prefer the EVGA backplate which is vented and a nice brushed finish, also saves $35 or so.

Jetstream is supposed to be the quietest of theb AIB cards, and it is with 2 double fans.

I had Strix on pre-order but after disappointing (for my needs) acoustic performance I switched to MSI Gaming X - 4db quieter then Strix. I am not a fan of looks of MSI but it will have to do. G1 is also very quiet as is Inno3D X3 (however in case of Inno the cooling performance suffers because of it)

Cheers

Gaming X or G1 seems to be two of the best choices right now

Grrrrr wish i had enough money left for the EK waterblocks, i really need them for the cards and then i can add the bottom radiator into the loop and it will be finnished.

Great Vid. Really comprehensive. Many thanks for that. It sounds like it is very quite and not at all annoying tone to it.

Yeah P180 is love hate relation. I loved it while it was built but working with it inside is a pure nightmare IMHO, no cable management, no easy access to HDDs... but once built a solid case, quite enough and efficient in cooling. Still glad I have moved on from it. It was a high time after a decade with it.

Cheers

Indeed. Later revisions of the case fixed quite a bit, but oh well. I still miss that case from time-to-time tongue.gif. And very glad you got some use out of it biggrin.gif. Going to try a few more games today to see what kinda numbers I'm seeing. Once I get a baseline, I'm going to turn the power limit to max and see what it does on it's own with the Boost clocks.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Nice! Is that carbon fibre look a part of the case, or is that a 3M Vinyl type of thing going on?

Its just cheap vinyl from my local auto store, 3m costs a fortune here, over $100 here. Worked great.

MSI Gaming X 1080, but its a hefty price

otherwise G1 Gaming is fine too

I havent seen FTW yet in reviews/peformance

would not do Palit unless there was no other choice

but if you do go Palit/Gainward then go for the GameRock Premium/Phoenix GS-GLH with the big double fans and not for the jetstream IMO
What's wrong with Palit? Why last choice? It seems Palit not getting any love. (Reminds me of ASRock, great quality at lower price).

Are you sure the Jetstream has smaller fans? AFAIK, both Jetstream & GameRock have 100mm fans. Based on Palit ad, the Gamerock probably has a little more fins, but that's hard to believe until one removes the cooler.
