Have you tried and older driver and used DDU to completely remove the old driver?

You can install just the bare minimums for nVidia.

After unpacking the driver, delete everything else in the folder except these:

I originally did use an older driver. The same driver that the 1060 used. It crashed on that. So then there was a new driver released the very day that I did the 2nd installation of Windows and I've been using that since. Have not run GTA 5 yet as I didn't want any downtime.

I use DDU in safe mode when I need to completely remove everything.

I'm gonna try it without the Audio component later and see what happens. I appreciate all the tips and help. I'll get back to you guys when I give it a whirl later today or tomorrow.

Thank you so much everyone and any more input is still greatly appreciated.

1093 is the MAX any 1080 will go. You give 100% voltage slider and set your clocks.

You ever see voltage limit, temp limit when gaming? Voltage limit is 90% of ehat ypu will see. It drops clocks. You flatten your curve to match aftet 1093 and above, you wont hitba limit. Its all over this thread.

Aldo. O eouldnt use a 1060 driver on a 1080.

I'm started got confused about my card, it never goes up to 1.093 volt STEADY....WHEN Playing a game....it just fluctuate like crazy...sometimes goes down to 0.993 volt, LOL...

i just want to run this card @2100 Mhz @decent voltage, is that so hard to run with? because I knew my card can do this if I get the right curve / voltage

Maybe power limit is limiting myself, arrggh MSI....why why why? LOL ..

The more voltage you give it the harder it will throttle.

The power limits for most of the 1080 cards aren't very generous.

Sent from my ZTE Axon 7 Resurrection Remix.

Got my cooler, took off reference cooler, applied mini-heatsinks to the board as required, and it didn't come with an adapter to plug my fans into the mini-4-pin fan header on the board. Now I have to wait till tuesday for one to be shipped so I can plug my 120mm noctua pwm fans into it.

Really bummed something like that didn't come with the aftermarket VGA cooler.

Not all cards are the same and require those heatsinks. My Mk26 did come with heatsinks but I didn't need them bc the HOF series uses their a separate heatsink to cool the VRMS and VRAM.

Yup, that's the price I paid for getting a reference card at launch. Founder's Edition.

Edit:
Got The Raijintech Morpheus II cooler installed and running on my reference founder's edition GTX 1080

Controlling the fan speed for now from my secondary cpu pwm fan header with manual software control. Under 100% load (mining) and my two 120mm Noctua PWM fans running at half speed, holding at 55C (with 22C ambient) with no thermal throttling of the speed.

HUGE IMPROVEMENT, very quiet, with the fans off during idle stays around 35C.

Time to look into overclocking this thing.

Precisely, if you won't use that frecuency because you won't use that voltage (higher than 1.093v), why you have to flatten? It doesn't matter what value you have there, does it?

So i made the jump a week ago from my old amd 280x to Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce OC. I had a discount coupon so got the card for a good price, i have it stable at 175core/500mem.

I was waiting for 2080 but decided to just get the 1080 and upgrade if 2080 kicks ass. Abit late to the 1080 upgrade game but i have not played heavy AAA games in 2 years. But man what an upgrade.
