A 1080 would still be faster. Unless you have a magic 980 Ti that clocks well over 1500 on the core.

I was just looking at the 1080 Amp Extreme specs and there website says 10.8ghz for default memory clock. I wonder if they are binning mem chips or something.

https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1080-amp-extreme#spec

Will report back on overclocks and cooling once I get it. I got 3 day shipping so hopefully next Wednesday or Thursday.

Seems like I got in on the first batch of the AMP edition cards as there is literally nothing out there about them. Zotac was always at the very lowest end of the list when it came to video card purchases. But their 900 series and 1080 cards seem to really bring up their game. Something about those cheap orange fans of their past cards really pushed me away from their brand entirely without ever trying them, so I'm hoping they made a solid product now that I'm giving them a fair chance.

The FTW/Classified Reference edition/Hybrid/Classified Kingpin Reference editions are all a gamble, especially the reference editions which feature overkill PCBs but cores that did not pass the advertised clocks for the normal editions.

Sorry Geggeg, I am a bit confused with your post.

I will be purchasing an EVGA card and was considering the Classified edition. Are you saying that it is not worth it? I thought the classified edition was hand picked or binned GPU's.

Currently SLI 980's. Will probably go single card this time around, so may wait for the Ti's to be released.

Cheers
