Yeah, they are great if you don't mind the price increase and the limited options.

R'amen. The MO RAs are beastly. Using one in my rig as well.

Should I keep Asus 980Ti strix in SLI with waterblocks or go and get 1080 with a waterblock ? redface.gif
Price-wise=the same.
Performance-wise=I would expect "up to" 50% more performance out of 980Ti SLI.

1. Not sure how 980Ti will perform under DX12 titles
2. Not gonna change graphics cards in 1-2years time
3. Not sure about SLI support
4. I play in 1440p so ....not sure if 1080 can get close to 100fps+
5. These asus strix 980Ti cards are voltage locked to 1.21V so watercooling may not be really worth it
6. 1080 is voltage locked too so.....beh...

What to do lol... redface.gifredface.gifredface.gifrolleyes.gif

I'd honestly stick with your current SLI setup. A single 1080 will be a bit better, but I don't think necessarily perceptible at 1440p.

Nice. Looks like taking off that cheesy plating gives it potential to look less flashy.

I've had my Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming card for about a week and half or so.. Really loving it so far! I upgraded from a EVGA 780 Classy and the performance increase was pretty impressive. Going to be putting her underwater as soon as EK gets the FC block released. It's listed on their website already, just not in stock yet. Not expecting to get much more performance gains by putting it underwater, but.. it just has to be done. thumbsupsmiley.png

Still have not completely tested the card to see how much OC headroom it has.. that is coming still. thumb.gif

So I tried overclocking my gtx 1080, having a real hard time getting it stable at 2k. I can get it stable around 1960ish..

if I go over to 2k then sometimes driver crashes. I tried upping the voltage, seemed to help but still at times i get crashes.

I also tried using the new method of incrementing on per voltage basis (whatever they call it), that does help cuz i can raise the clocks on 1093 voltage specifically, but wont go much higher.

Stil really happy with the card, no more multi-gpu stress, smooth gameplay and most games work at 4k just fine.

Do you guys think i will have better luck with custom bios'? And what about this gaming x bios? Can i use it? My card is the newegg exclusive msi gtx 1080 gaming (non-x).

are you using GB Extreme engine or the MSI afterburner to OC the G1 ? any issues ?

any fan noise/spin up issues ?

i could reach 2114 and a little with , but stable OC while gaming @ 4k should be no more than 1950mhz , so yeah there's throttling however there's almost no fan noise coming out while heavy gaming stress is applied on the GPUs

i'm using asus LED SLi bridge and it's doing a good job scaling the performance @ 4k , this was done on the OC mode bios provided by Asus there's also Gaming and Silence mode too , Silence will downclock the Core+MEM clocks by -50 tongue.gif

over all solid GPU and feels lighter than FE

one more thing i love is that the Power connector slots are upside down so the locks are on top of the GPU for easy removal
