I am doing the same but there is some new data from a guy that tested on the reddit forum and through comments there seems to be some thought that the drivers actually don't give the need a better bridge warning but resort to using only one finger anyway. What are your thoughts on this? He does have some data to look at.

Which models do you have?

So I am running two same length SLI ribbons and everytime I load a 3d application my refresh rate drops back to 59hz and I need to reboot and reset back to 144hz.
If I just run 1 ribbon I don't have this issue. I've tried with different ribbons and get the same results. HELP ME!!

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Man this better not come down to running a freesync monitor. Surely not..
I can forsee that even with the HB bridge i'd have this issue.

Maybe OP should consider updating first post or let someone else do it!

There is not even a leader board, it has been almost a month since first post got updated.

That's not throttling, that's how gpu boost works. Lower temp = higher clocks. When you jump into a game your gpu is at 40 degrees, that's why the boost is so ridiculously high. Once it hits around 70 degrees it stabilizes. Throttling point is above 80 degrees.
Nvidia would have to sell all 1080s with a water block exclusively to prevent this from happening since a GPU like 1080 on air cooling will never be able to sustain temps around 50 degrees.

Well I just got my MSI 1080 Gaming X looks like I got a good one as it can do 2139MHz on the Core and 5580MHz on the memory tested it for about 45 mins in Heaven. The card is still on air and plan on puting a kraken x41 and G10 bracket soon on it hope I push it further. Overall I am very happy with it. Was able to hit over 20000 in firestrike for the first time with one card. The Msi 1080 gaming x model sure does look nice did not think I would like the look of it so much. I can highly recommend it as from other posts on here seems most who have the card have been able to hit plus 2100 core clocks and plus 500 memory. Will keep tweaking it and will report back once I install the G10 on it.
