At 4.8Ghz and an adaptive voltage of .185, temps never go over 85 even under very heavy IBT/Prime 95 loads.

Back on the 1080s though, both of mine can run at 2100Mhz (+200) with the memory at 5555Mhz (+550). A few posts ago someone wrote about the VRAM being too high causing a loss of FPS because it was error checking. Is there a good benchmark/quick test to check for this?

Check this out. My i7 6700k can run 4.8ghz @1.42 4.9ghz@1.456v stable 5hr occt(January) 4.9ghz@1.472-1.488 stable 5hr occt(April) now 4.9ghz 1.504v stable 5hr occt. Why is my cou degrading so quickly? I intentionally left out temps because I delid and I never exceed 69C on any core even at 1.504v

Right now I have a 1080 gtx sc with newegg you think I should return it and get a FE? Or do you think the sc is the exact same reference board as the FE with the ACX and factory tuning. I'm afraid that nvidia may have done some preliminary binning for FE and then gave the rest to the aib. Just my conspiracy theory

Is there a guide on Overclocking 1080's anywhere? Can't get my pair over 1860MHz.

I did the delid thing, first w Coollabartory Ultra, then with just Gelid Extreme. Same-ish results. I just hit a point where I needed a LOT more voltage to be stable, and with that came the heat. There's these odd point with overclocking where you add maybe .02 volts, and gain +10C.

I can get through Firestrike at 4.9 no problem, and it doesn't REALLY make that much of a difference.

The first 6700k I owned would do 4.6Ghz at the same voltage this one will do 4.9Ghz. Its all the lottery.

Tonight I played The Division for a few hours, CPU averaged about 60 C and the 1080s at 2100Mhz were in the very low 40 C range. Furmark does way more to tax the power limit then actually playing a game. I don't think I ever saw anything more than 80% power in game when the GPU were even at 90%+.

that's because furmark IS a power virus.

For anyone interested here is a link to the Inno 3X 1080 BIOS

One way of checking this is to run Valley with 8xMSAA in a window and pausing it. Then u can adjust the memory speed in software (e.g. MSI Afterburner) while u observe the FPS.
