accidently posted this in the wrong thread... but

Speaking of dremels and shaving... I ordered two EVGA Pro SLI V2 long bridges and are running them side by side (both with the top fancy heatspreaders and LED removed) while I wait and if there is any reason for an HB bridge. They overlap slightly, so I had to use a flat lego piece to space one of them out a bit so it could still be level across but not pushed all the way in as to not have a crooked line-up, I will try to get a pic. Is it possible to shave a little bit from each SLI bridge to have them flush together? As in maybe a half mm from the left side of one and a half mm from the right side of another? What tool would I use?

Guys need some help here.... So i just got a hold of one 1080 ACX 3.0 since i heard sli was broken for VR i decided to try out the 1080 ..... It is a great card but however i can seem to overclock a damn bit with this card it seems that overclocked has changed with this gen of cards ???

This is what i have been doing as always with other cards before they go underwater ..... Set fan speed to 85% up the power limit and the temp limit to the maximum and load Heaven for a first run so i can compare my results stock vs overclocking ..... However the card decides to do its own thing it boost around the 2020 at start slowly going down in steps until i hit like 1945 or something .....Temps are in check and i haven't even added a single thing to the clock or memory ...

What am i missing here ??? How are you guys getting constant clock speeds ??? I have tried to search around and it seems that most throttling becomes from heat but my card starts downclocking at around the 50C

TIA

Shremi

You just described boost 3.0 , 3 times the *** are my clocks bouncing around. They start the first voltage/core clock throttle step somewhere in the upper 40's so you can see it is working how intended from how you are throttling.

What you are experiencing is a feature on all 1080 its called GPU boost 3.0. Once your temps hit around 50c the card start to lower its clock speed. From what I read it is a side affect of going to the 16nm finfet. This is just the way it is now till we can start modding the bios and remove it. GPU boost 3.0 is just security measure so you don't fry your card its not a feature. Your card is working correctly if you want it to stop downclocking then you have to make sure your temps don't hit 50c or above.

Hey I was just wondering if someone with a gigabyte 1080 gaming g1 could measure its actual length for me, the specs on their website are different to the specs on most retailers do I'm not sure exactly how long it is.

Thanks guys for the quick reply ! Well this F*****g sucks .... Then i guess you guys keep adding core and deal with the throttling ??? or whats the best overclocking method for this cards ???

What i am thinking of doing is to start heaven and let it go for a couple of loops and then start adding core and mem ???

Yep it does suck. My suggestion is keep pushing the core till hit you hit a wall then leave heaven running and see how far it downclocks. The higher the temps the lower the clocks. I myself put a g10 and a kraken x41 on it and don't see any downclocks since my max temps are 40c. If watercooling is an option for you then that would be the route to take to completely eliminates it.

hotfix driver doesn't appear to fix it for everyone. its very random. most complaints are coming from gsync high refresh rate users while a few coming from non gsync and non gysnc and low refresh rate.

no eta from nvidia. their latest reply sounds like they now just started to look into it....

I actually fixed it by using DDU to uninstall everything (default setting).
Re-installed drivers and GeForce Experience, and it's gone!

Can I just use 2 regular ribbon bridges instead of that fancy HB Nvidia bridge for 2 1080s?
