[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1080 Owner's Club - Page 220

I just listed my 1070 for sale after only owning it for a few days now.

For 1440p gaming, I want my card to last a little longer.

Now I just need to find an MSI Gaming 1080 in stock somewhere. Does anyone know if the X is binned higher now that they've been out for awhile? Or is it a complete money grab? My 'X' 1070 was only able to OC to around 2050Mhz stable... Anyway, I'll probably just grab the non-X because it's 80 bucks cheaper.

will this method also make it use 165Hz (instead of 144) in games if your monitor is OCed to 165 ?
If, like me, you're using an ASUS PG279Q overclocked to 165Hz through the built-in screen menu/software, then there is NO 144Hz option left smile.gif
165 has taken over the slot of the 144 option.

There is no binning of gpus this round so far. Last time there was some sort of binning was with the EVGA KPE 980 TI for Asic percentage.

All luck of the draw what kind clocks you get when getting a 1080.

i see, cool

so far Ive heard the following:

- "Just updated the Bios for my GTX 1080 G1 Gaming and the flickering is gone."
- someone said simply setting to 165/160Hz for everything removed the flicker for him
- set 120Hz for Win dekstop and then leave 144/165Hz for 3D gaming
- for some setting in NVCP power option to Maximum Performance helps
- some dont get the flicker at all, and for some the hotfix driver helps

I also heard 165hz removes the split vertical line issue on high refresh Gsync monitors for some, will try that too

To anyone using Zotac 1080 FE cards, changing thermal paste resulted to a 8c temperature drop. Zotac must have used low quality paste.

I thought all FE cards come from the same factory and are manufactured according to specs from NVIDIA.

in an hour+ of Overwatch, I had max 65C and a max of ~44-45% fan .. 1923 Mhz rock solid stable core for that entire OW session - I didnt do any manual OC yet, didnt even enable G1 OC mode via the Gigabyte utility, didnt flash new BIOS (it seems to be for fans and mine work fine already), this is straight out of the box (which is by default in Gaming Mode)..

I heard there is some 1080 driver issue with OW (?), but I have the default Optimal Power (not Max Performance) set in NVCP, and everything was perfect in OW - GPU utilization, 1923Mhz stable core etc. (however I do have high performance set in windows power settings) .. no crashes/drops or anything .. I also dont have GF experience installed

havent gotten my XB271HU yet, so I cant check 144Hz flicker bug yet

I need to remove Geforce Experience and mess with the power settings in NVIDIA CP (unless it's linked to the Windows power settings). I'm getting some strange graphical glitching in OW. Nothing crazy, but I it's a tad strange.

There are 3 options Optimal,Adaptive and Performance.....Set it to Adaptive , works best on MSI FE , setting it to Performance throws @ highest clock at all time, Setting it to Optimal runs @ 1100 MHZ in some games, Adaptive is something to try thumb.gif Also , delete all game saves if you used GFE to optimize and try clean In Game Settings. Optimized with GFE The Witcher3 cant even do 1440 without dipping into 40's , After new save runs @ 1620 flawless.

I tried setting Maximum Performance and for Windows dekstop it didnt change anything - my idle clock was still 240Mhz and it even still downclocked me to PCI-E x16 1.1 (under load it goes back to PCI-E 3.0)

I did notice though that with Optimal Power my GPU never went above 16XX Mhz during a match of Heroes of the Storm redface.gif (Ultra settings as well) .. not sure if its a bug or the game is just that "light" that it cant even tax a 1080 enough to push it to 19XX Mhz .. OW (Epic settings) did push me to 19XX Mhz

I would assume with Maximum Performance even HotS would set my clock to 19XX Mhz since its a 3D app

I'll try Adaptive and see if my HotS clocks go higher

will probably leave it at Adaptive in the end

Im never touching GF experience
