Gents I have a question for you, I just got my Gigabyte FE GTX 1080 and EK-FC1080 Nickel block. Are we still able to use the FE's backplate along with this block? Or do I need to buy EK's to use a backplate with this block?

Only one way to find out wink.gif

You will need a EK backplate to use with that waterblock.

Expect around 2300mhz like Ragnarook up there.

Even without actually "Knowing" I can say with confidence the answer is a big NO.

It's plastic anyway. Ditch it.

Ah, I had not pulled it out of the anti-static bag yet to notice that its plastic. LOL, what genius made the decision to use plastic for a backplate? Thanks for the answers boys.

So the Strix bios seems to be the best out of all the 1080's at this point? I have an MSI card and the highest my voltage will go is 1043 while under water, no matter where I put the voltage slider. Guessing I would see a little benefit with the strix-x bios?

Only one way to find out smile.gif The voltage slider wount do anything with the strix bios either tho, you need to use the graph (ctrl+f in msi afterburner) to overclock and then it will up the volt too.

Actualy I just re-ran it a few times and was getting a higher framerate in Dx12... Dx11 was only 79 FPS. Of course this is the built in benchmark and not actual game play. Like I said before it's also GTX 970s for now I don't have a second 1080 yet or high bandwidth SLI bridge.

Hmmmm. Maxwell doesnt get a perf boost, Pascal does?

Albeit 20% less than DX11... I guess we'll see.
