[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1080 Owner's Club - Page 285

post #2841 of 11236
I'm in the club. My overpriced ($760) MSI Gaming X 8G 1080 came today. I really like the build quality on it compared to the Gigabyte 980 Ti G1 I had. It's prettier and also much quieter! The G1's fan had a bit of a grinding noise with the sound signature and I was not a fan. This thing is a whisper under load by comparison. Just ran regular Firestrike and got 22,550 on OC mode.

Was it worth the upgrade over the 980 Ti? I'm seeing a 25% increase in my games on average, and I'm satisfied with that. But my Firestrike score maybe seems low. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

It seems my Palit 1080 is Voltage locked, any Idea how I can bypass this?

Heh.
No.
1080p = very close to actual 2K.
1440p = would be close to 2.6K
2160p = very close to actual 4K

2K = 2048 wide (2 x 1024, 1024 = 1K) so it's 2048 x 1152.
3K = 3072 wide (3 x 1024) for 3072 x 1728
4K = 4096 wide (4 x 1024) for 4096 x 2304.

I've never done GPU overclocking since it seems more stressful on hardware than CPU overclocking. But I want to push my EVGA 1080 FTW to 2000 mhz.

Where would I get started? What's a good guide for overclocking Pascal GPUs?

Like I stated earlier 1080 FTW should be here Monday but I have a question to ask. I am running Win 7 Pro. I have loaded up Win 10 a couple times to try but my FPS was always lower on Win 10. I am getting jealous seeing people run the Time Spy benchmark and want to join in the fun. Has anyone else noticed Win 10 being slightly slower in FPS? Maybe there was an adjustment I needed to make. Games I play now are Direct X11 but I am sure I will need DirectX 12 in the future. Thoughts?

110% pure luck smile.gif But the diff between 2050-2100-2200mhz isnt very big, in real games maybe the diff is around 1-3fps.

Oh dang, that's 1.1k more than what I got. 6700k@4.8 and 1080 sli at 2000mhz.

Let's see if the hybrid coolers will let me stabilize my clocks a little more.
