This is what we have to buy + waterblock = WIN YEAH? cheers.gif
I'd buy EVGA because of their official position on warranty for cards that have had their coolers removed. While I've heard that people have gotten away with returning cards to other manufacturers, to my knowledge no one else openly supports it.

Finally got my Gigabyte GTX1080 Xtreme Gaming. Nice big and cool card, but I'm disappointed with overclock. Max stable linear overclock is around 2067-2101MHZ using 100% volt and 150% power slider. This card really can do 150 power, but how can I overclock to 2100-2200? I have noticed that some of you can hit 2150mhz+, but how?
Btw, does flashing bioses change fan speeds or other things?

So far it appears that the Founders Edition is the best overclocker, even though I'm pretty sure NVIDIA said they were not binned. This is especially on water because the FE cooler isn't the best. Here's a forum post on that:

Just because you may have a BIOS allowing higher power limit doesn't mean you have a die that will overclock that high. Also as previously mentioned by someone else, that 150% power limit number is only as good as the base power limit. In other words its 150% of what.

Yeah. They are not calling it binning. Its the "premium quality components" aka were binning but not going to say it so company's don't get mad that they are getting pur left overs

I want to flash a bios so badly. My patience is diminishing.

Just flash it. I flashed it back doing some more testing on it but running on a nvidia founder edition its running fine water cooled. If your on stock air the higher voltage might just make you thermal throttle more then stock and cause an even bigger dip in performance.

This is not the bios we are looking for. We want something with the tdp unlocked and at least 1.15v "for the water cooled guys" so we can really run this card.

Right now it seems as if water cooling these cards is only serving a purpose of having a quiet setup and operating at low temperatures. Other than that there is no reason to water cool. Partially regretting putting an EK block on the 1080 right now.

Yeah I was going to put an ek on mine but its a waste of $125. The $60 evga hybrid I have works amazing.

Yeah it runs cooler but the big point is it eliminates thermal throttling. When the chosen one comes out. Aka a good bios then we will see what they can do and I'll replace my evga with a ek
