Your not accomplishing too much with more volts in this case this gpu dont work like that.. The extreme overclockers prove that to us.. Multiple phases more power connectors prove us that...

Same as a 980ti feeding it volts are not going to give you more mhz.. hell i can do 1500+ with 1.16mV XD
you know how much volts it required for that extra 60mhz i managed to squeeze out of my 980ti?
ALL WAY UP TO 1.31mV 425watts bios and it wasn't even 24/7 stable, bench stable yes

Everything we have learn in die shrinks it will require more and more and more stupid ridiculous amounts of voltages that we cant provide or the chip will take without the appropriate cooling...

and after all pascal is maxwell

I used it today on my card.

Just another bios. I don't know too much about pascal to really say.

You are right. I have had similiar experiences myself on 980 Ti and now on 1080. However, atleast in my case I do not throttle lower than 1.00V anyway, so this would net me 0% performance at best.

Which was my original point about this not helping those people who insist on pushing the last Mhz, what this conversation originally was about btw...

End of the day its the persons card. If someone wants to they can. You have no say over it unless you sending out paypal donations to buy peoples gpus. If someone wants to run more volts they can. Personally i want to run a solid 1.1v to my card. Why because i want to and its not going to damage my card. Its the same reason i have twin turbos on my camaro. Do i need a 800hp car when the speed limit is 70? Not at all i only even been to the track two times. But i wanted to top out the 6.2L the best i could. So i'll run 1.1v to it to squeeze out every last mhz i can because at the end of the day its my card and i'll do with it how i please.

We can provide upto 1.25v its just a matter of a bios. Those with water cooling can cool 1.25v no problem. So by your logic why overclock a 980ti? its a old hunk of junk if you gotta overclock it to make it relevant just put it in the trash where it belongs because there is absolutely no point in attempting to get every last drop of performance out of your card.

End of the day its not your card its someone elses. Anyone whos been overclocking the 1080's and working with them knows what to expect and if they wanna crank up the volts its there card they can.

1080 Hybrid update.

I installed the EVGA hybrid kit on my 1080FE.

The bad:
The install instructions for it *suck* They suck, suck suck. They miss a step or two you'll have to guess and the worst part was I followed the instructions for every stage, including removal of some of the smallest screws I've ever seen, got to the end of the guide and started looking for the portion of the guide that tells you which screws go back where, etc.

There isn't one.

If you take the screws out, and there are ton, write down where they went. The ****ty instructions just STOP and don't even bother to address it.
Also, the screws for the crappy plastic back plate are ******* impossible to get back in. I ended up leaving the plastic backplate OFF.

The good:
Wow. Holy **** cool. At max load I haven't seen it go over 42c. It reminds me of my beloved Fury X's.
The overclocking: Haven't tried to increase my oc yet but I'm pretty sure I can. The OC is now ROCK SOLID. It never varies like it did before. It hits 2126 and just stays there. I'll try getting it higher.

TLDR: ****TY instructions. Great cooler.
