Your right, I was thinking of the $600 standard edition Nvidia was supposed to offer.

I installed the EVGA hybrid kit on my 1080FE.

The bad:
The install instructions for it *suck* They suck, suck suck. They miss a step or two you'll have to guess and the worst part was I followed the instructions for every stage, including removal of some of the smallest screws I've ever seen, got to the end of the guide and started looking for the portion of the guide that tells you which screws go back where, etc.

There isn't one.

If you take the screws out, and there are ton, write down where they went. The ****ty instructions just STOP and don't even bother to address it.
Also, the screws for the crappy plastic back plate are ******* impossible to get back in. I ended up leaving the plastic backplate OFF.

The good:
Wow. Holy **** cool. At max load I haven't seen it go over 42c. It reminds me of my beloved Fury X's.
The overclocking: Haven't tried to increase my oc yet but I'm pretty sure I can. The OC is now ROCK SOLID. It never varies like it did before. It hits 2126 and just stays there. I'll try getting it higher.

TLDR: ****TY instructions. Great cooler.

you can write detailed instruction if you have mount official 1080 gtx hybrid kit for 1080?

So I'm pulling the trigger on a MSI GTX 1080 SEA HAWK X today.
I've been fairly underwhelmed by the non ref 1080 cards I've owned, including the "almighty" Gigabyte GTX1080 Xtreme gaming.
Hopefully the Sea hawk does the job...better lol

I just got this same card last week and while my temps are super low, 38-42C on load and 29-30C on idle. I'm not able to get anything above 2.1 stable. I think I hit my max at 2088 core and 5547 on mem. I have gotten the voltage to go as high as 1.093 to do 2.1ghz, but my score drops by like 400 points on 3dmarks. So it seems like I've hit a wall with mine at 2088.

What have you been able to get with the other cards you've had? I'm a little disappointed honestly, but I love the temps and will probably get a second one later down the road.

My 3d marks scores with those clocks...

So i'll run 1.1v to it to squeeze out every last mhz i can because at the end of the day its my card and i'll do with it how i please.

We can provide upto 1.25v its just a matter of a bios. Those with water cooling can cool 1.25v no problem. So by your logic why overclock a 980ti? its a old hunk of junk if you gotta overclock it to make it relevant just put it in the trash where it belongs because there is absolutely no point in attempting to get every last drop of performance out of your card.

End of the day its not your card its someone elses. Anyone whos been overclocking the 1080's and working with them knows what to expect and if they wanna crank up the volts its there card they can.

Took out the irrelevant car analogy, to begin with.

ok let me first start saying 980TI is a better card than 1080.... Specially in the overclocking department.

Whos saying or mandating here how to run their cards??
If you want to feed the card 1.5mV go ahead be my guest. That dont going to make a difference..

To keep it simple, im stating the obvious pascal is like maxwell end of story...
More power more phases dont do crap to the card not even a fixed bios like the xoc that is not reporting power even do crap to it..

But if you want to feed it more volts and try another bioses which decreases performance or dont give you more juice well thats on you..
Im reporting MY FINDINGS for the new fellowers ocers out there. So they dont come and said hey guys im running uber 2.2ghz+ but my performance is lower, whats going on....

But like you said if you sleep better at night feeding it more volts hey be my guest XD

Can't speak for the 980TI owners but 980's were better than GREAT overclockers 1127MHz @ 1.212V to 1544MHz @ 1.250V is a huge difference in performance even by Firestrike 13000 GPU to 16800 GPU scores. EVGAs KINGPIN team stated that 980TI overclocks better than 1080 but 1080 has much better performance regardless of 980TIs overclock abilities.
