Has anyone checked to see if the reference 980 waterblocks fit the reference 1080? From EK's website they look very very similar.

I just dropped mine into my SG13 last night and set it to +200 / +400 and played some witcher. I'll tweak more later but no issues so far.

I doubt it, but this would be awesome since I still have all my blocks. Are you willing to take your 1080 apart?

Maybe I can look for a photo of the reference design and see if they match up to the block. I'm sure they don't

now if NVidia would put that tool out to unlock SLI.

I'm guessing the new NVflash will help with that before NVidia officially releases something.

Those are not 3 or 4 way SLi bridges but they are same as Nvidia 2x SLi bridges just in 3 different sizes for different spaces from 40mm to 80mm.

Same here, have a block ready to go if it does. I preordered the ACX 3.0 1080 so won't have it until mid-june but will definitely check then. If not I think I'll just use a thermosphere on it since I already have one and baseplate/heatsink/fan on the VRMs.

I looked at the reference pictures on EK's website, it looks really close so here's hoping. Found this comparison of the 1080 and 980 reference boards...

My main concern would be a height difference. Those blocks are pretty exact and you have to tighten the screws all the way down. Looks like that top right cap where the 1080 is missing the second power connector could be a problem depending on if it is a full size block. No die guard or what it is called on the 1080 too.

I'll def give it a try when my board comes, put thermal pads and TIM on and check contact and clearances. As long as the die has good contact and cutouts fit then possible the rest can be made up with thermal pads.
