Pretty easy to figure out. Maxwell was the same way. Keep a 980ti cooler than 30c peak, your chances of reaching 1600 increase exponentially.

Err, true. The mantra is always the same. I'm kind of harping on the point, as some people seemed incredulous this was happening. Though, Maxwell was more consistent, at least to the testing over at Anandtech. Who knows... Cheers, smile.gif

Ugh. There is a reason some work better and some don't.

Blindly flashing BIOSES with different timings, etc. Just doesn't seem like a bright idea for me. Or anyone else.

Well i can say for a fact on my fe the gigabyte waterforce bios is the best preforming bios. Beats stock big a good bit. Firestrike i can consistently pull 25k -26k on the gpu depending on if i max it out or just run my daily driver clock. And i have tested pretty much every bios. And really i dont care its just a gpu if it dies i'll buy another one. If people dont like flashing its fine. But there have been no problems that have not been fixed bu flashing. Have i seen drops in performance from other bios? Yeah the inno was crap and the Asus XOC was the biggest turd ever. However in 3dmark as well as in games "wow the only game i play." the waterforce bios has pulled higher stable clocks as well as pulled more frames then the stock bios. I will say it is picky about them. People running the EVGA FE bios report its nice. On my card it sucks. People report the waterforce did not show an improvement on there card. I see a 20mhz higher stable clock

Do i advice people to flash there cards? Only if you can afford to lose $700. If my card burned out today i would go to microcenter and buy a seahawk soon as i get my shoes on. But if you want every last mhz out of your card then flash away. To date i have flashed every bios out for them. Got one that i have not flashed? PM me it and i'll flash it. End of the day i gained 20mhz its not a lot but its free. And im willing to do it so im going to. It just makes it that much faster.

Side note The Galaxy HOF bios will brick your card so dont flash i just tested it.

If you do decide to join me on the zero f's given flashing this is how you recover if you have a igpu and what i did for my 6700k

flash and brick

Win 10 respoot holding shift and f8.

Go through all the stuff for safe mode. pick safe mode with command prompt

reboot.

nvflash as normal.

reboot and delete that bios and tell others.

Anyways im back on the waterforce. Its running great and is the best bios i have used. Then comes the Seahawk "Corsair" version and then the stock Nvidia FE bios the 0C version the 01 version for some reason i see some performance dips.

But time to play some wow and enjoy all the bugs.

Bro!

Marc just told us he bricked with the HOF BIOS.

I have to tell you guys.... with or without performance increases my point has been proven.

Not the best idea to blindly flash BIOSES. :-)

i agree w/you for the most part but being an "i told you so" or calling someone out isn't very helpful since the reports can stand on their own. i'll just leave at that and i assure you i have to no desire to get in an argument about it.

Hahaha. Yeah we're good man. No desire at all. I love all (most) of the boys here.

I liked that "I told you so" comment. I can't really say anything to that.

Lol.

You will need to short the three resistors on the PCB as per the Xdevs article.

your running an FE too right? for some reason the waterforce bricked mine as well. Honestly, the best bios so far for me is my stock Zotac FE bios. It pulled my highest score so far on firestrike extreme of 5858 and it's totally stable at the settings I used for that score, been gaming on it for a week.

I went ahead and did it with Gelid Extreme. Not much of a difference. Tested Haven 4.0 with 80% fan with stock paste it would bounce between 61C and 60C. Now with the Gelid it stays steady at 59C. So for most probably not worth the time.
