From the guide "and that migraine inducing pic lol" C726 is diff. Chances are its nothing but i know the value of that cap but not the one on your card.

Chances are its nothing but rule of thumb one component is diff do not try anything on it. To hard to tell what else was chanced and if any internal traces are changed. "Chances are not" but you have to be 100% sure. Because they just dont randomly change component package styles at random. That your board required a totally separate program for the pick and place.

My advice is get some high res images of your pcb and start comparing them. Next time i take my block off i'll check mine and see if its like yours or that one and if its like yours i'll measure the cap see what it is.

lol the application is actually pretty good but as you can see in the pick I had the card on my lap balancing the block on my leg all while snapping a quick pick... I just didn't let it focus, I just snapped it real quick.

Guys, I need your help: I'm really torn between 3 cards and I don't know which one to get

-MSI Gaming X
-EVGA FTW
-Zotac AMP Extreme

Help me make up my mind and maybe tell me about your experience (temps, noise, coil whine) Thanks a milion biggrin.gifthumb.gif

They'll all perform similarly. Go with EVGA for the excellent customer service and forums.

This is all true. Those GTX 1080s all have some of the best cooling out of all of them. Overclocks are similar on all of those, although it seems the EVGA FTW might average a bit less than the others. While EVGA does have customer service going for them (I've dealt with them and I agree it's very good), I'd go with the Zotac AMP Extreme given the opportunity. Probably the best cooler out of the three (even though the other two are really good) and I have slightly more faith in its overclocking capabilities.

The downside to the Zotac is the ugly backplate, but I'd just paint it all black. The MSI Gaming X looks the same as many other Twin Frozr cards, the EVGA FTW is probably the best looking GPU of all time. redface.gif

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and quite a noob. I have a budget of 800$. So I'm gonna go with the GTX 1080 Xtreme most likely. Are there any BIOS level tweaks that can help remove the 1.093V cap? I'm not going to go much above that, I just want that 2100Mhz in case I get ****ty lottery. Preferably no hardware mods. I suck and will probably screw it up.

Thanks guys,

How did you short them? Clu or wire?
Afaik if you short just 2 resistors (rs1-3) out of 3 then you should be on the safe side and your clocks should be fine. Maybe you wanna try?

Also der8auer will be posting a 1080 volt mod vid tomorrow on youtube.

Regarding strix OC bios, its been proven that it only adds "visual" mhz and volts, but real performance is not there. thumb.gif

I'm too lazy to pull cards out and take pictures now, but it's the capacitors, right now I have 10ohm resistors soldered on top of them. I didn't have CLU.

I will wait till someone actually show a proven performance improvement before doing anything, if at all, on the cards again.

On the "visual" side, I'm now suspecting it's the Ctrl-F oc-curve's fault. It's the curve method that gave me "visual" improvement on mhz and volts, but lower scores....
