I highly enjoyed it yesterday. I do miss the density of 4K in a 27 inch screen, but I do have to admit even Win10's scaling is a bit atrocious. Chrome as well. Games however were not an issue, and SLI did it justice.

CS:GO was rather lovely at 100hz and ridiculously smooth. The same went for GTA V (playing a survival) and Overwatch as well. Overwatch was the one game that felt weird with G-sync. I had to max it out and do 200% scaling to get it below 100 FPS, and then it I felt like I was getting mouse acceleration or some sort of input lag. No other game felt this way. I thought it was because ti was going from about 90-110 constantly, but GTA V did this as well in some parts and didn't have this feeling. I'll have to play with it a bit more tonight.

However, I did decide to return the 4K panel. I'm still inside of my return window. It's a great panel, actually, and I'll miss it. The IPS panel on it is definitely a bit better than the X34, but G-sync and ultrawide are enough to convince me I can live without it smile.gif. I look forward to ultrawide 4K biggrin.gif.

G-sync really is something special. It's a hard thing to describe to someone who knows nothing about monitors (or at least familiar with variable refresh rates and stuff). I maxed GTA V out completely and during the stunt races yesterday I did see drops to 50FPS, and they were noticeable, but no screen tearing, and nothing like what you see when dropping below 60FPS on a 'normal' monitor. It's hard to explain the way you experience it, but it's something you'd almost have to look for to notice it. I'm debating whether it's worth turning down settings to maintain 60FPS or if I'm happy enough with how g-sync is doing that I can live with it.

You're greedy if you "think" you need more for gaming. IMO.

I dunno. I like my SLI setup. It's running very well with no issues so far smile.gif. Minus the fact that Doom still doesn't support and gets some nasty frame drops with newer patches...I find that most of the games I actually need the extra power in supports SLI tongue.gif.

You sound just like me, Hehe.

I've been waiting for GSYNC ever since GLQuake on Voodoo cards. Never used vsync, ever, tearing got worse and worse though.

Glad you're happy with your decision though, not easy buying these $800+ panels and being happy with them. So easy to find a fault at that price.

I was lucky to get the last Dell 27" Gsync 1440p monitor on sale recently. It's a TN, however I don't care. After calibration it's the best monitor I've ever used by a WIIIDE margin. I drooled when I first loaded up DooM.

Still do. 1080p is the new 720p. smile.gif

I actually considered that panel quite a bit, but my Dell IPS spoiled me so much that I couldn't do TN again tongue.gif. I knew I'd eventually have to pay the price to meet what I wanted in a 'new' panel. And that was by minimum; IPS, g-sync, >=27", and >=1440p. The only 'issues' I have with it so far is that I don't have more variation in the ambient LEDs and that the OSD is less-than-ideal.

It's a good TN, but it's a TN nonetheless.

I like IPS colour reproduction, obviously. However panel uniformity really messes with my OCD side. IPS glow drives me nuts.

Not playing the panel lottery until I get a decent IPS without glow, so for me.... Slightly less accurate colours and viewing angle are sacrificed for panel uniformity.

Those two things can be dealt with in my head. A non uniform panel can't. So.... I choose TN for now.

OLED can't come quick enough.

Yeah, an OLED, 4K Ultrawide with 200hz, g-sync and a curve...will be affordable one day biggrin.gif.

I have an Asus PB278Q ( 2560*1440, IPL Panel, 60Hz )
I have birthday end of August and I hope to get some cash in for a new one. But gosh when you want a 2k, IPL, 144Hz and maybe G-sync you spend well about 700 - 800 Euro and the Panel is so inconsistent as nexxusty said earlier...
Maybe just the Dell with TN Tanel...
