[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1080 Owner's Club - Page 407

A HUGE thank you to KPCT for his guide over at xDevs ( https://xdevs.com/guide/pascal_oc/ )!

Did the 10 Ohm SMT resistor mod, worked like a charm on my G1 Gaming card! Max power usage in Heaven is only hitting 73 as seen in the screenshots. So far seems stable at 2139 MHz, gonna try a few more bench's and see if I can bump it up any further.

For record, on the G1 Gaming, the capacitors that need the resistors are on the lower right corner, if looking at the GPU die side, with the PCI bridge facing you.

No throttling from power usage...

Two of the three resistors added in place...

1080FTW owners, how is it treating you? Does it overclock well? Seen on some other places that it is not overclocking too well...

Got an oportunity to return my Armor and get a FTW for a few bucks more...

Wish you luck on that ic. Hope it can handle that. I already explained why that mod will kill your card its just a matter of time.

FE modded right with no resistor botch job.

If you want a card that overclocks go with a FE and water cool it. AIB's are way way way to hit or miss. Looks like this classy on here gets great clocks. I seen another one that cant break 2ghz. Same with the Strix oc i had that i sold to a friend. Card would not go over 2,010mhz at all. Nothing could get it any higher. Im just going to start a database for 1080 max clocks. Do benchmark stable clocks. game stable clocks and max oc. We need to get some numbers in one spot. I cant include my FE because it was hardware modded last night so it will skew the results.

My 1080 G1 is under water, max temp of 45*C. Where did you mention anything about the mod? I must have missed it...

Very Happy with my stable overclock. Beautiful card thumb.gif

GPU Boost speed: 2,138
Sustained Boost Speed (15 minutes running Valley at 4K): 2,114
GPU temps never exceed 68C (74F room temp)

My GPUZ boost clock is at 1985

Power Target maxed at 122%

GPU voltage maxed out at 100%

Memory positive offset at 498

If u can upload the bios here it would be great.

I have the FTW and like it. I have not played with the OC that much but it will do 2147Mhz. Cooler is pretty good. Once I get a waterblock for it I will really know how I like it.

I'll run it on Monday. I left it at work. Doing some reverse engineering on a circuit in it. time spy is stable at 2.2ghz. Right now im just working on some filtering to try and clean up the power a bit more. Should have it finished Monday or Tuesday and back to some testing. Just building it up so when i get my new Titan X i can pretty much get full price on this 1080 and get some money back.

I will add there is a way Nvidia can tell if you have used more then 1.25v on the card. I will not go into details on this as people can circumvent this and it looks like it is placed for warranty issues. Go over 1.25v there is no way to reverse it after it trips other then replacing a part and they will be able to tell. Unless you are doing a hardware volt mod you do not need to worry about this as you are not able to provide that voltage without one. And if you do a volt mod your warranty is gone anyways so it dont really matter.

Still never said how the resistor mod can damage the card, and after looking in your post history I see nothing mentioned about the resistors...
