What is the size of SLi bridge that comes with Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming 1080?
40, 60 or something else.

I'll be joining tomorrow with a couple of 1080s. Sort of... It has been a really long wait after selling my 980 TI (for a very good amount) two months ago. Never expected the 1080s to be so difficult to get. Having no GPU/IGP, it was not an easy wait.

I had 7 orders at the same time at a point and still managed to reach 2 months. Amazon UK/DE alone had 5 and two months after, had shipped nothing. When I found an AMP Extreme in stock at Overclockers UK, I immediately went for it, and then cancelled all the other orders. Ironically, at about the same time, one of the stores shipped one of the orders, so tomorrow kinda by accident I'll be receiving:

-1 x Palit GameRock 1080 (standard, not the Premium), with G-Panel (from Mindfactory in Germany)
-1 x Zotac AMP Extreme 1080 (from Overclockers UK)

I really liked my Zotac 980 TI so I'm going to keep the Extreme unless someone thinks that is a tremendously bad idea. The Palit seems very interesting, I like the large 3-slot cooler and they did well in reviews, fairly cool and fast, double BIOS, etc. The G-Panel hardware is also interesting, but I can definitely live without it.

The Palit is about 30 Eur cheaper, but I suspect it will also retain less value when sold used, plus it has 2 year warranty, while Zotac has 5 years (at least on paper).

It would be nice to test both cards, and there is a 2 week window for that, but I prefer to just ship one of them back sealed/unopened so that someone else might enjoy gaming with untouched gear.

So... open the Zotac? The Palit? Flip coin?

I believe that the Zotac Amp Extreme is the more desirable if staying on air. Plus your getting 5 years warranty as opposed to 2 years which is a nice plus.

Wasn't there talk about Zotac reaching almost 80C at 100%? Or was it another model?

I posted that indeed. It's the Zotac AMP! hitting 80C at 100% fan. Zotac AMP Extreme is fine.

What is the Zotac 1080 AMP (two fans, 300mm). The 1080 AMP Extreme uses a larger cooler with three fans (325mm) and so far I haven't seen any reports of overheating. Seems to have temperatures similar to other cards.

With a 980Ti you're in for an expensive move up the ladder...
Im still rethinking if moving from Titan X to 1080 gave me anything at all...

Yeah and not even considering just SLI upgrades.

I don't think I would have sold my Zotac 980TI if I knew how things would turn out. It was pretty fast at 1.5 GHz. But over two months ago the 1080 seemed interesting and I expected them to overclock better. With the tiny overclocks, the distance to the 1080 will be minimal, definitely not worth 250-300 Eur of upgrade. Would have been a mere 100 or so if the 1080s were at MSRP. Didn't expect them to OC so low and sell so high. biggrin.gif

I did have some issues with noise and heat however, so at least that should improve.

I haven't sold my TitanXes, both are still happy running at 1465 very cool under AIO (h115i) each (under 65°C).
Distance to 1080 FTWs is mere 6%. Not sure if under water I could gain anything with FTWs since those chips have an upper limit before sub-zero.

In thinking of just selling FTWs instead since I actually can use 12GB.

I can't buy a new Titan X because Nvidia doesn't have a shop for all European countries, only a few.
