My Gigabyte 1080 Xtreme is stable overall on normal clocks,no crashes etc .

Do you left that cards in idle 4-5 days and then try? Just check it. I must left for few days idle to trigger that throttle bug in 3d apps. Perfcap is PWR related from GPUZ.

I have a EVGA FTW edition gtx 1080. It has two 8 pin connectors just like the Zotax GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme. I was able to put the zotac amp! extreme bios into my evga ftw gtx 1080 by using zotacs new overclocking tool that has a built in bios flasher. My evga ftw with the zotac amp! extreme bios card worked flawlessly and performed amazingly. I scored higher 3d mark scores and my clock never dropped below 2000 when playing games. This is without any sort of overclocking software.

My question is, I know the zotac amp! extreme card pulls 270 watts so I'm assuming the bios is designed for that, while my evga ftw has a max power draw of 215 watts. Is it a bad idea to leave the zotac amp! edition bios in my evga ftw edition card?

thanks,

David

What do you mean 4-5 days all day for pc to run no i turn on my pc only when i use it but i have used the 1080 G1 for up to 12 hours in games like Fallout 4 with massive amount of game mods so very havy game no problems at all card stays at 2080-2100mhz on 55-60C and the card has stay in idle for whole day

BTW with 1080 G1 bios you can push your cards fan speed from 3200rpm to 3800rpm with FE bios even uo to 4000rpm dont know why gigabyte has lower the fan speed so much this time

When the PC has been idle for few days. The boost clock speed gets stuck at 1278 Mhz in 3d applications, until I reboot my PC and then it's at full boost clock speed again ( 1990-2000mhz ).

I know weird issue.

I know weird issue.

happened to me once or twice. Both times I had 2 3d applications open and after shutting one down it went away.

Another weird thing that happens here is that sometimes, even if I'm staring at my desktop, clocks will go up halfway and repeat thoses spikes for a while.

So I returned the FE I got and managed to pick up an FTW. Managed to OC the card stable at 2114Mhz core and 11000Mhz on the memory. Quite happy with this card overall the only thing I am a little worried about is the temps. While playing GTA V now for a couple of hours I have to have the fans at about 85% to keep the card from going over 70C is that normal? I have seen people say they are sub 60C with the fans at a 100%.

Picked up two FE's a couple weeks ago for my new build.

Top card gets a little toasty with OC as expected but nothing a fan curve and 3000rpm Noctua fans couldn't solve lachen.gif

your temps are normal. Try ramping up to 100% fans and see if it gets better. Good airflow also play a crucial role, make sure you hame something blowing cold air right to the card.

At a 100% probably drops to around 65-67C during gameplay in GTA V. How far down would temps go if I put a hybrid cooler on this thing you think? sub 50?
