But the question is..... is this bios rly bringing more performance or just higher clocks and volts ?

Some ppl have said that already that its just "visual" and you are not rly getting 2300MHz performance but rather 2100MHz(just an example).

Pls test and report back. Compare with stock max clock bios vs this one. thumb.gif

Will consider TDP modding my card. Been running valley for the last 4 hours at 2139 mhz stock voltage. My mem is kinda decent 545+, more than that and it will get bad scores due ECC thingy.

I am very happy with 2139 on stock voltage, glad I purchased it, was a little worried since it was a demo card (card sent back for an unknown reason). tongue.gif

I'd try flashing my FTW if I was confident it wouldnt kill it... my guess is it would just not boot, but...

So I shorted one of my resistors using liquid metal as per der8baurer's instructions, but the difference is my card had 3 resistors on the power connector.

I picked the one very left, and applied liquid metal just enough to make it shiny. And pop the card back in system.

How do I verify that the power limit has been removed or allowed to go higher than stock limit?

I just flashed my FTW with the Strix OC BIOS and it did give higher power, but my clocks ended up just a tiny bit higher, really nothing groundbreaking, but it did work fine.

If you can rip your master BIOS off of the FTW for me that would be awesome, I forgot to backup the master one before flashing it. I wanted to keep my slave BIOS clean so I could just switch back if things did not pan out well.

You can choose over which bios the new rom is flashed or it always flash over the one that's active?

Hm, I read some horror story of a guy flashing a 5870 to a 5850 and permanently killing it so I'm just a bit concerned

20percentBIOSftw.zip 148k .zip file

The 20% one?

I just flip the switch to whichever BIOS I want to flash before hand. I will probably continue to flash the master BIOS to keep my slave BIOS clean so I can switch back easily to something that works correctly when its game time haha.

Yah the master BIOS with the 120 limit as opposed to the slave one with the 130 limit. If this is indeed the master BIOS then thank you very much!

It is indeed, no problem

Were you able to increase voltage to 1.2v with the strix bios? I assume you are flashing back to the default one huh?
