Dear all hello.
Have quick question, when i overclock my Asus strix 1080 I have noticed that as soon as I hit 2000mhz plus my core clock start throttling down to 1950-2000mhz but my temperature is between 67-72 max...
I have good score at all 3d marks :
fire strike 23400 card score
Fire strike Extreme: 11200 card score
Time Spy:7500
But throttling is bothering me since I'm not hitting 83C when card should start DE clocking due to temperature.
Anyone can give me heads up what might be the reason?
Thank you dudes

Ok friends... here comes more questions!

I've downloaded the strix bios... is that an upgraded bios or is it the same one as the strix cards comes with? I've got two strix cards, so if it's an upgrade I should have 0 issues (I hope)

So, as I said... I've got two strix cards... shall I take one of them out and try it with one of them first or can I just disable SLI? I read the description a couple of posts back, can I just follow those?

EDIT: And which version of nvflash should I use (where to DL?)

Its probably temps. These cards throttle well before 83c. Mine starts to throttle in the mid 40s.

I believe its better than the stock bios, and also allows voltage >1.1v (I dont think thats by default for strix? Not sure)

I think you will be fine disabling SLI and flashing just one of them.

Yes i understand that it is due to temperature...But how can I fix this issue, since tepretaure is not too high and card shouldn't throttle ...maybe I should change card bios or maybe there is something ells that can be doe besides water cooling...but I don't think I need one with Temp 72 top
Thx

hi i have a question, i have two Zotac 1080 FE's i can reach 2100mhz on both cards and around +500 on memory. i don't need any extra voltage to keep them stable. however i notice running these speeds causes artefacts like red dots flashing. i tried increasing the voltage and playing with the memory speeds even setting the memory to zero and i still get them. i can only stop them if i bring the clock speed down to 2088mhz. it that the max for my card or will a different bios help me out? heat is not an issue as they are under water.
thanks

Only thing you can do at the moment is to run fans at 100%.

You could also give the STRIX bios posted here a shot:

"New bios which has improved performance at the same clock speed (+400 points Fire Strike GPU score). Note that it does not have the overclocked frequency by default."

I see ppl are getting 2.3GHz and 1.2V with strix OC bios.....curious if the real performance is rly there... redface.gifwink.gif
My final results with that bios on an EVGA FTW, using just one game, Battlefield 4 Test Range (I believe this to be a fairly reliable test as it is very consistent in what is being rendered. Also I'm lazy and dont want to run a ton of benches just to compare)

Both boosting to 2025MHz and 11160MHz memory: (MENU/TANK SPAWN)FPS
FTW: 157/164
STRIX: 159/166

Max OC (FTW = 2164/11160 @ 1.093V / STRIX = 2190/11160 @ 1.182V)
FTW: 168/176
STRIX: 171/179

So the net result is
clock:clock, STRIX is +1.25%
max clock, STRIX is +1.75%

For now I'll be sticking to the standard FTW bios as - and I may be crazy - it seems like I get a lot more coil whine with the STRIX bios.

I have the same card and noticed the same problem, if I increase the fan curve the clocks stay higher.
Usually around 50c you'll start noticing them drop slightly as the temps increase, yet my card never goes over 64c even with a 2000Mhz OC (that's because it can't sustain 2000Mhz).

I was reading that you used to be able to take a imprecision-x skin and load it into afterburner and enable the kboost option, but I guess they patched that method recently. Does anybody know of a new way to enable the kboost with afterburner on non-msi cards?

Is there any other bios to try out on FE ?
