[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1080 Owner's Club - Page 482

Yeah, I'm getting a lower score with the stock bios. But I get some throttling in BF4 with that bios

2139 is stable on stock voltage, but will throttle due TDP limit.

Yesterday i've just tried to give my Palit 1080 GameRock a little more juice, since there was plenty of room when it comes to temperatur and powerlimit. Thereby I'm a bit confused because there is no gain at all.

2050 was the limit without touching the voltage.
2050 is still the limit even with +100% vcore applied.

The only think changed due to the increasement was power consumption (jumped from about 100% to 110%'isch) and temperatur (raised from a solid 68-70°C under full load to 77-79°C). Anyone else with such observation?

I experience the same behaviour with my super jetstream, but at lower temperatures. With fans at 80% and 2 case fans pointed at the cooler I get 50-55c at 2050mhz with 104% tdp at stock voltage or 115%tdp at +100% voltage.

Even with the strix OC bios I cannot push clocks any higher, even with up to 1.2v

I don't get why the BIOS thread had to be closed. We're all grown up here (at least that's what I expect LOL), paid for our cards and have the right to do whatever we want with them. There were several warnings across the whole thread about the risks of cross flashing. People were aware of the risks and yet they decided to take it. Now we need to be babysit and told what we can and cannot do with the cards we paid for? Cmon guys, we're better than that. Let the boys have their fun, brick their cards, pull out their hair and struggle to get it working again...it's all part of the game and everyone is aware about the risks. All that closing that thread did was to bring that discussion here.

Also, wasn't it fun when you said that a BIOS would brick the card, another user confirmed and yet, after all that, someone asks for said BIOS, flash it and report back an hour later that the BIOS bricked his card? biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Okay, thats strange. It looks like there is an barrier which doesn't come from the chip itself.
I didn't touched the ventilation since it didn't reach its temperature limit - I don't care for more throtteling for now because it's getting watercooled anyways soon.

I wonder that you also had the same issue with another BIOS, because i hoped for it to fix the problem tongue.gif

Because it wasn't going the way the OP had intended and I guess he didn't want to be associated with bricks. Seems fair enough to me.

Any poster can start a new VBIOS thread, hopefully someone with at least half the dedication towards it. smile.gif

If I create a thread named "Let's cross flash, peeps" it doesn't make me responsible for anyone elses cards but mine. Again, we don't need to be baby sit. All it takes is a "FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK" written in the first page. It keeps making no sense to me.

I agree, but I guess is was not the OPs original intention for the thread. You should start one and we can start over from the beginning and have a nice first page with all the good info wink.gif

I also tried the game rock and game rock premium BIOSes (biosis??) with no difference in what was attainable.
