Like i said , tried GamingX OC i think it was 1709Mhz stock and 1999 Boost and OC options with that bios were way worse and also Power limit was set to 110 in that bios by default.
Check it out i guess , it wont hurt thumb.gif Just get EVGAs FE BiOS

Of course there are non FEs on the FE/reference PCB with different blower coolers ... for instance MSI GTX1080 Aero OC, Asus TURBO-GTX1080-8G.

Probably you don't want to spend extra money for custom coolers / pcb when you put fc waterblocks on em.

EVGA Service is unbeaten no brainer when you can get two used EVGA FEs since there is no trouble with guest RMA as a 2nd,3rd etc. owner. thumb.gif

I figured that it would be fine to pay for the blowers that come with the partner cards for two reasons.
1. Because they'd be overclocked a certain extent already, which would be nice.
2. Because they'd be easier to sell down the line.

But I'm pretty new to this, so I'm always prepared to be wrong.

You might also want to check out those ones ... pretty good price for a custom PCB with 8+2 Phase VRM Design.

FC waterblock + backplates available from EK:

Thanks! That does look good and I like the price.
How are Gigabyte with warranty and service?

Yep, all my parts will be EK except fittings and tubing. biggrin.gif

when you put them back to air cooling and you are the first owner they are under a three years warranty AFAIK.

for self induced damage its at your own responsibility ... just the same as with the other manufacturers.

besides the RGB lightning of the cooler and the clock rates these match the G1 editions.

so it should be easy to flash them with the G1 bios. but shunt mod won't work with those.

Will try it as soon as I get home. I'm also curious to test the 1.2V bios and see how hot it can get on air.

GPU is at 2164 / 1.093V

I noticed it also depends on whether or not you are limiting your frame rate, whether that be through Vsync or the particular application.

I found that I could lower my frame cap from the monitors refresh rate (144hz, which it wouldnt push constantly anyways in overwatch maxed out) to say 100fps and it would lower my tdp% substantially. Once I did this I could overclock my gpu higher until I was using back in the 11x for tdp usage. Hoping to do the TDP mod once I get some conductonaut in. The power mod should allow me to keep a high overclock and remain under what the card thinks is its "power limit".

Gotta dig the old BIOS thread. I guess it's the XOC Bios. People were getting 1.2V out of that. Will look for it as soon as I get home.

No card does. I think the BIOS can allow up to 1.2v. Which we all know is useless without subzero cooling anyway.

You said it earlier. Extra voltage cripples OC's.
