[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1080 Owner's Club - Page 503

Would a card that already doesn't throttle due to heat benefit from watercooling to stay at 40s? I mean, my FTW doesn't throttle at all, maybe 1 clock down in some very heavy situations. Would watercooling make it possible to achieve higher clocks, or have I already achieved maximum clock if I'm no throttling due to temperatures.

I'm trying to fill out the form. I just bought a 1080 Classy. There's nothing there that fits "Founders Edition" nor "Reference", and I don't know where my GPU-Z Validation goes. Would it be OK to put up a screenshot (or many screenshots)?

You should be able to email the validation to yourself. But yeah the form is outdated.

Would at least reduce the noise, if you are a silent guy like me.
Due to better cooling the card will drain little less power (290X OC drained 470 Watt from the Wall (whole system) and 440 Watt with while being watercooled) and components are going to live longer due to better temperatures.

I've done some other tests on my 1080 yesterday and found out my card clocks up to 2055 if I put the fans on 100% for cooling.
It goes up to 2088 without changing anything beside adding some voltage. I didnt test if that also increase the performance, tho.

Personally I'll watercool it for the noise and hopefully better OC-Result which comes at least with the cooling (72°C (auto), 55°C (100%) compared to 45°C being watercooled).

Cut my Kraken G10 Bracket.

So ugly.... I don't know how people can stand it.

All that's needed is the damn circular retention teeth and the mounting holes. So I dremeled off the fan mount portion and am now grinding it down to size. It will work great in the end, and won't look ridiculous with the damn bracket and the NZXT logo showing.

I will of course give pics when I'm done shaping the bracket. I recommend everyone do this to be honest. If you have the tools, absolutely. This essentially makes your Homebrew DIY kit identical to the EVGA one. Installation is exactly the same, however you have Radiator options this way.

No brainer IMO.

Have to finish up tomorrow though as its late and I already woke someone using my Dremel and Grinder.... 3am grinding isnt too cool unless you live alone.

Major reason to clean my garage out. Lol.

Can someone run the atitool 3d view cube and tell me if they get coil whine?

To those who helped me yesterday with what I thought was poor performance on my new 1080, I did more benchmarking with Shadow of Mordor as it isn't very cpu intensive, and compared my results to the review at 2560x1440, 3840x2160 and 5120x2880. My results ended up being 3%, 2.8% and 2.2% respectively below their results, which is perfect.

So at least now I know that my card is fine and that any huge difference in other games is either due to windows 7 or my cpu bottleneck.

Thanks again. smile.gif

bloody DHL. Rang them this morning and they assured me I'd have it today. Apparently it got "misplaced" and now I have to wait until monday to get my paws on it. My Friday night just got bummed out.
