Anyone recommend any good Platinum PSUs? Going to order one off of Newegg and see if it helps the coil whine. I have Premier so returns are hassle-free. Currently eyeing the 850 P2.

Evga is my top choice especially they have 10 year warranty for p2. It's made by superflower. Season if is also a great choice. I believe corsair is also good.

But with the choices mentioned, pick the best price once you narrow it down.

Several great choices:

EVGA P2 is great, especially for the price. Reliable, top notch performer, 10 year warranty, EVGA customer service is legendary. The only downside is that it relies on capacitors installed on the cables to get excellent ripple performance. These cables still aren't excessively bulky though, but if something happens to the caps that's not good. On the plus side, they reduce the length of the PSU which matters in some cases.

Seasonic Platinum/Snow Silent delivers similar performance and the same warranty. Slightly more ripple but still barely any, no capacitors on the cables. I don't think their modular interface is quite as good as EVGA, but good enough.

Antec HCP Platinum is another top notch choice, but typically overpriced. They're about as good as it gets for PSUs and don't rely on capacitors being installed on the cables, but they are very long because Delta overbuilds these things. Only the 750W and 1300W were worth the asking price before. The 750W is discontinued now it seems.

Corsair AX = Seasonic Platinum so more excellence. Corsair AXi is also top tier but typically overpriced, I'd buy Seasonic PRIME instead for that Titanium level efficiency. I would not buy Corsair RMi and RMx which aren't even Platinum rated, since they're CWT built and CWT soldering and QC are still far from perfect.

Go with Seasonic PRIME if in stock and if you can afford it. Not Platinum, but higher.

I built this new 2x1080 rig with the EVGA SuperNOVA 850w P2 platinum. Solid PSU, plenty of modular cables, dead silent with fan operating. 850w is probably a lot for today's systems, but it's always nice to have some overhead. I don't think I've seen 500w yet on my kill-a-watt. Also the price was right at newegg. I considered most of the other PSUs, particularly the Seasonic, but I just couldn't justify the extra price when these EVGAs have had such solid reviews, and as always have excellent customer service through EVGA.

I need to get some good pictures of my rig up, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

So due to shipping, I can either get the AX760 or the P2 850 for the same price... Tough decision.

What about BeQuiet! PSU's?

Was thinking about one for a HTPC build.

I guess the Corsair it is (since it's manufactured by Seasonic). The straight up Seasonic models cost wayy too much.

I'm pretty sure Seasonic has not manufactured Corsair's PSUs in quite a while. I know their initial units were, but not subsequent ones, because some of them haven't been that great. Seasonic is expensive, but that's what happens when you buy the best of the best.

Ah screw it I'll take the plunge and get the Seasonic Prime.
