I had a 1070 amp edition and I could overclock it decently, I was scoring 95fps in Heaven, and 5800-5900 in timespy..

The 1080 I'm scoring 109-115 in heaven and 6780 (so far) in timespy, but overclocking isnt netting any where near the gains I seen with my 1070..

I mean with the 1080 going from stock clocks to +100core/+250 memory I'm getting like 4fps difference from stock clocks in heaven, does that make sense?

Without overclocking what are your speeds?

Do you hit the Temp Limit at all?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll play it safe and get some regular thermal paste.

These are with default clock settings... temp limit set at 75c. never went over 70c during benches, even warmed the card up by letting it loop in heaven for about 10minutes, then ran the benches..

stock clocks

overclocked..100/250

Finally got the 1080's under water. Now, to overclock them, soon. >smile.gif

finally got a 1080 I've been wanting and waiting and missing out on. gigabyte gaming xtreme on the way for my 34" ultrawide 1440p! can't wait to see how different vr feels with a 1080 over a 980 in sim racing with the rift.

Don't think Heaven could bottleneck an i5 though. It's literally a pure GPU benchmark.

but overclocking the core +100 and mem+250 I'm netting 4fps difference.. that doesnt seem like much for an overclock.

But I think what you've posted shows my I5-6600k@4.5ghz is getting close to being bottlenecked at my 4.5ghz mark with the 1080 overclocked because its hitting a point of diminishing returns.

I'm also running at 2560/1440.

I cant imagine that your CPU will bottleneck. Sure with i7 u get better results but i5 6600k should be way enough

Dual rad?

Also, do this for SLI bridge (it works as the HB one):
