ftw probably has a better cooler, since the heat is spread around many heatpipes compared to the strix

Hey guys quick question, I'm trying to overclock my FTW again at 100% fan speed just for max, but it seems that if I go over +34 to the core clock then it refuses to bump up speed from 2025 but still stays perfectly stable at even +85.

I managed to get speeds to almost 2100 last time I tried so I think there's something odd going on, any ideas? Using Afterburner for overclocking and GPU-Z for speeds.

Edit: So after playing around more it seems 2075.5 is the highest I can get on air in my case, any raising of the core clocks from there just increases heat and causes it to clock down. Mine automatically downclocks from 2075.5 to 2062.5 at 50C, and again to 2050 at 55C. That's with a very aggressive fan curve too, so I'm thinking that's the best I can do until I get a hybrid kit for it.

Got the ROG Strix. Too many complaints about coil whine and poor cooler performance on FTW cards that I read.
My cards should arrive today or tomorrow.

Hmm, I hear no coil whine from the two of them and also cooler is pretty great.

Will an i7-5930K @ 4.0GHz bottleneck ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 SLI?
Just finished benching my two Asus ROG Strix GTX-1080-A8G-Gaming cards

Still running an i7-3770K @4.5ghz and 16GB of RAM too, Had to up the VCore of my CPU to 1.3V from 1.285V just to keep the 4.5Ghz stable when rendering in Premiere

Of course there will be people with good cards as well. Can't win in this kind of arguments on the internet smile.gif.

Well, both of my FTWs get to 2139 stable at 100% fan, 70°C. Throttle to 2114MHz if at 80% fan. I find that... fine.
