Can't wait to get a cannonlake and retire this lazy cpu...guess I'm stuck with it for another 1,5 years...

I have two Asus X99 Pro usb3.1 mobos and 5930k overcklock very good but on one of the mobos i cant get past 3.3Ghz cache so your cpu can be fine and the problem can be in your mobo

Try 1.35v instead of input 2.0. And check your cache voltage. My 4770K requires 1.38v for 4.5Ghz, btw.

Do you have any WHEA errors in your event viewer? If it's ID 20 errors, you would likely need more volts on your cpu.

The stock cache clock for the 4690K is 3.5ghz isn't it? I'm almost sure about it...Are you saying I should try to get Cache below stock? I could really use some more power in my CPU since it is bottlenecking my GTX1080 (1080P@144hz)

Cache should be left stock, right? I know my stock cache is 3.5ghz, but I'm not sure about the voltage, it was set to auto on the mobo. I really didn't want to go that high on vcore, but since I have a year or so left with this CPU, why not? Gonna hook it up to a H100i V2 soon...

When I got the Bsod, yes. It was voltage. But the screen freezes followed by sudden restarts gave me no BSODs nor error reports on windows. Strange...

Sorry about going off the track with the thread, I'm just trying to figure out if my crashes on GTA V are CPU or GPU related...guess I'm not TOO off track biggrin.gif

Hi guys, I need some up to date advice! Next week I'm going to buy the GTX 1080 Evga FTW and also a 1440p 144hz monitor. How well does the 1080 run the 1440? Will I be able to max games out like BF1 or Elite Dangerous? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'll throw this in there, Should I purchase a 1080p 144hz monitors instead?

I have a 1080P@144hz screen and I'll tell what I've seen:

You need a powerfull CPU to run high FPS with the 1080P screen. My OCed 4690K is bottlenecking my GTX1080 (I usually get 70% GPU and 100% CPU utilization)

If you have a powerful CPU you'll probably get 100+ in most games (considering heavy ones like ROTTR).

1440P you can expect sub100 FPS and you won't have as much CPU bottleneck as you would with 1080P.

My advice? Go futureproof and get youserlf a nice 1440P screen. Don't make the same mistake I did buying a 1080P screen ins 2016.

850W is Overkill in this case..
I got a Wattagemeter or what that Thing is called at home and my whole System peeks at 500W max!

i7 @ 1.35ghz
Gtx 1080 @1.2v
ram @ 1.65v
9 fans
costum Loop with pump etc.

I just dont get it why people getting psu with Overkill wattage...

1440p will be just fine very little difference in fps you wont even feel it and you can still play at 1080p
