You need a powerfull CPU to run high FPS with the 1080P screen. My OCed 4690K is bottlenecking my GTX1080 (I usually get 70% GPU and 100% CPU utilization)

If you have a powerful CPU you'll probably get 100+ in most games (considering heavy ones like ROTTR).

1440P you can expect sub100 FPS and you won't have as much CPU bottleneck as you would with 1080P.

My advice? Go futureproof and get youserlf a nice 1440P screen. Don't make the same mistake I did buying a 1080P screen ins 2016.
Thanks for the input. Greatly appreciated! I'm thinking down the road I could purchase a used 1080 and run sli.

I'll throw this in there, Should I purchase a 1080p 144hz monitors instead?

Get a 1440p 1000% sure!
Why should you buy one of the newest Cards out there and go a step back to 1080p ? thumb.gif

It is a german page but you should be able to see the Benchmarks :

http://www.gamestar.de/hardware/grafikkarten/asus-geforce-gtx-1080-rog-strix/test/asus_geforce_gtx_1080_rog_strix,1000,3274661,2.html#spiele-benchmarks

I guess that BF1 will not require better Hardware then BF4 / battlefront wink.gif
In the near futrue you should be good to go with 1440p and 1080 thumb.gif

I run a 32" 2560x1440 75hz monitor, I5-6600k@4.5ghz and a Zotac 1080amp edition.... In BF1 I run just over 100fps in dx11 or dx12 at stock clocks, gpu never gets over 70c.

Even if not overclocked itself, cache should get some voltage raise. Might be a weak part. Try 1.15v or 1.2v.

I've been playing GTA V all morning about 1 tick down the res scale from 4k. I haven't gotten a single artifact or crash clocked at 2126 core the whole time. Consequently, I did notice that the voltage set itself to 1.064 volts for a lot of the time. I haven't really seen many other games do that. Temps 38 C. I haven't tried the newest Nvidia drivers. I'm still sitting on 369.09 as a lot of people seemed to be reporting problems with the latest.

Is it me or does boost 3.0 works in mysterious ways that can't decide what clocks to run the card at.
I pushed about +185 / +500 on a single AG card and am scoring about 5717 in Firestrike Ultra (5698 graphics).
I see boost clocks ranging from 2000 - 2088 during the test with no clear single clock where it stabilizes.

Need to test more. Haven't opened my second card yet.

You should always push Cache when you overclock core because having it too low can cause instability from experience with my haswell chip.
