I got the Gigabyte 1080 Xtreme Water Cooling, and while my max stable OC is at 2088mhz I was definitely expecting more considering the premium I paid for a AIO water cooled card. At 2100mhz it's a guaranteed crash. I guess no one ever advertised binning.

You definitely beat me on the temps though. With a custom fan curve I've been able to make sure the card rarely goes over 60C, but most people with my card, the MSI Sea Hawk and your Hybrid now, seem to get temps that never go beyond 50C, some even 40C. Maybe my ambient if hotter than everyone else, but I feel like I should be getting better temps with the AIO.

All things considered, the card is still super silent and that's really what I wanted. The throttle mhz I lose from 50C to 60C is negligible in terms of what I see in performance. Definitely wish I could've got a card that went over 2100mhz though. Just something about that number biggrin.gif.

I recently changed the stock cooler from my two Zotac 1080FE to EVGA's hybrid cooler. The temperature does improve greatly from 83C while gaming to 50C (Room temperature around 25C). I've flashed both cards to the EVGA FTW bios posted earlier from TechPowerUp but the maximum OC i can get is still 2088/5400 which is a +100/+400 OC in afterburner before crashing in Time Spy. I also have to tune down the OC to 2055/5200 while playing BF4 but not even more GPU intensive game like Witcher 3. I'm using Noctua's 3000rpm fans on the radiators running at 2000rpm at base but it doesn't reduce the temperature by much. Is what I'm getting normal or should I gain more performance out of my setup? Much appreciated.

Lovely photos.

In terms of overclocking and temps you seem to be getting similar results to what I have on my Gigabyte Xtreme 1080 which is also water cooled. I haven't tried The Witcher 3, but I do know that I have to keep a separate overclocking profile with BF4 or else I'll get driver errors. My BF4 profile is typically -30 core on the Afterburner slider to what my max stable overclock is on all my other games, some more intensive than BF4. I had the same issue with my old AMD 6970s and had to actually under clock them to keep BF4 stable.

I'm clearly not an expert and I've never messed with updating the bios for GPU's but I thought I'd let you know I was having similar experiences from a similar setup especially regarding BF4.

A few questions for the guys.

1) Can't seem to push beyond 5700 marks in ultra. Dafuq! My CPU is clocked at 4.3 Ghz about now but don't understand how I am almost 1300 less than the norm on my clocks (2050 is where the card stabilizes). However, 3dmark is the only application where the card keeps jumping around between 1948-2088 clocks. In Deus Ex MD it is pegged at 2063 and down to 2050 during the bench and gaming.

2) Can it be because I didn't do a clean driver install?

3) Can it be because I am only using Windows 7?

4) Can it be that the latest NVidia drivers 372.70 are crap?

5) Is there any way to run OC mode on the card without resorting to using GPU Tweak 2?

6) Where can I download GPU Tweak 2 from? The website that I am directed to doesn't let me download it (asus something).

Would love to hear your thoughts.

5700 GPU score on ultra is just fine with these clocks.
You're mistaken if 1300 less means the norm is 7000 in ultra, some few cards with higher limits are passing 6k's smile.gif
Here're my best runs @2139 core:

1) Cant say anything, my ( watercoold ) is clocking 2177 and I can go even further
2) Yes imo. I didnt deinstalled the Driver correctly, installed the new and I got Trouble in games until I deinstalled everything the correct way
3) Sorry not an expert on this Level, but why it should?
4) No! At least for me the the Driver is pretty insane thumb.gif Good clocks with Performance increase
5) The OC Profile not, but I mean you can just adjust the curve in afterburner
6) https://www.asus.com/support/Download/9/13/0/3/41/ - should be working but I can get better clocks/scores with afterburner ( I dunno why )

Thanks for the replies. Seems my score and clocks aren't too bad. 2050 is all I can get with the AGs. Maybe should have waited for the OGs to come in stock but patience ran out.
This card seems like it won't go past the advertised clocks. +165 nets me exactly at 1836 in AB (the OC mode of the card). I tried 175 and 185 and it ran the benches but became unstable afterwards. AGs seem like an edition of the card created that did not pass the OG clocks.

2050 for a single card seems to be the norm. Don't know how it will do once I slot the second card. My SLi bridge arrives today so will test tonight.

Did you tried to Flash the Strix OC Bios on the Card? wink.gif
I saw so many Reviews of the non OC strixes and nearly everyone was able to get same clocks as OG Version smile.gif

Makes no difference. Flashing with OC Bios just changes the default clocks. You can run the norm Bios and still achieve those clocks if your card can handle it.

2050 boost on a no oc strix card is all I can get (stable) and I have had two, both were pretty similar.

On a 3d Mark

powerlimit 120%
+170 coreclock
+505 mem clock
fan 90%

boosts to about 2050/65

firestrike (high-performance 24300 on graphics score)
Time Spy 7845 graphics score
