[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1080 Owner's Club - Page 610

Some sort of error correction could kick in ... you are not only overclocking the shader cores/rops but also the caches/uncore.

When you oc vram too much you will see graphics scores decreasing before you see visible artifacts.

Memory of my Zotac AMP @5576 - just fine .. @5584 graphics score decreaseing ... and above visible artifacts in benchmarks. (3D Mark Firestrike Extreme)

the line between loss of graphics score and artifacting seems to be finer than with maxwell gpus.

VRAM at 5524 is my optimal it seems. Any way up +20/+40 or down -20/-40-60 and the perf goes down.

There are Bioses which allow higher VRAM Clock rates.

i am reaching higher beneficial vram clock rates with Palit Gamerock Premium / Gainward GLH / Inno3D iChill X3, Strix OC T4 Bios than with the original Bios of my Zotac Amp! for instance.

I would rather run 2126/5576 than 2152/5544 ... vram clock rate has quite an impact on the graphics score.

vram clock wise the worst have been the MSI Gaming Bioses.

Link to Strix OC T4 bios please. I will try it tonight and see what's up!

bear in mind that it removes the power limit, thermal limits and voltage limits too.

no clock decrease ... when gpu gets too warm it will rather terminate the benchmark/reset the driver or start artifacting.

with his bios and driver 369.09 i reached my highest graphics scores yet.

but i would only recommend it for 24/7 use when the GPU is in an H2O loop.

Note that nVidia software reports that there isn't any ECC support for memory. Mine seems to dramatically drop speed when hitting 1400MHz in bandwidth orientated results and doesn't get a lot worse. I don't remember 100% but it may even start getting a little faster again.

Safe to use on FE cards too?

there is some sort of internal data transmission control.

as far as i know for GDDR5 DBI is used for CRC ... but maybe somebody in here knows better and wants to explain it. thumb.gif

some already flashed FEs with that bios ... so ready to read your results. biggrin.gif

Any thoughts?

I believe others have noticed this too with using the curve. I have scored the same as some who were getting 40mhz higher on the core. Core clock doesn't seem to mean everything when you get to a certain point. Maybe the voodoo that is boost 3.0?
