What is the absolute best thermal gel to use on the GPU? Any suggestions?

I would use the liquid metal but, it will corrode aluminum. I just reapplied standard thermal grease on reassembly.

Power, and clocks are better! But, temps are worse, or the same roughly.

I need a recommendation of the absolute best thermal there is! Lol

I recommend Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut personally.

Most recent use was on a Titan X(M) ref cooler and it dropped 3'C(69 VS 72 max temp).

My 1080 FE eagerly awaits it's turn. tongue.gif

Yeah I fully plan to get some Kryonaut and also their thermal pads to install on my FTW when the Watercool block comes out.

Want every little thing I can get to help with temps lol even when waterblocking it would be enough. it's never enough!

I just uploaded it to techpowerup. I don't have an account for a file sharing site & overclock doesn't seem to like me trying to upload any ".rom" files, lol.
I'll upload to one if you give me a link. thumb.gif

Got the block and backplate installed on the first 1080 FTW today. I've got another pump, pump top, fittings and coolant coming in on Tuesday. Should be ready to get the loop drained, flushed and rebuilt next weekend.

Thanks for doing that.

I'll give it a try in my extreme when it becomes available to DL from techpowerup.

I just started using Kryonaut as well. Great results so far. Thinking about using it for my Seahawk. I'm probably too lazy to do it though as my temps are already pretty good. Not sure it's worth it for me even if I get 2-3c improvement.

My FE, is already a great overclocking card compared to others! I felt like a fool reassembling the card, after doing the shunt mod and using this off brand white thermal grease on my GPU die lol.

Any of you guys running the shunt mod?

How was your results?

Once I have a spare $400 laying around I will build a custom loop! The GTX1080 looks amazing wearing those ek blocks

Hey GTX1080 owners,

Would you consider putting all that power to a good cause for the next 2 days? If so, come sign up and fold with us for our monthly Foldathons - see attached link.

September Foldathon

To get started:

1.Get a passkey (allows for speed bonus) - need a valid email address
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

2.Download the folding program:
http://folding.stanford.edu/

Enter your folding name (mine is the same as my OCN name)
Enter your passkey
Enter Team OCN number - 37726

Word of warning if you ever do go the water cooling method, it can be quite addicting, expensive, etc. I just fell of the wagon again and water-cooled my wife's htpc. I couldn't stand the temps I was getting for that small little box. Results are awesome though. Dropped the CPU load temps by about 40c and GPU temps by 30c when my 6 year old and I game on it. It all started a few years ago with a Corsair AIO CPU cooler. Then I just had to have more. tongue.gif
