Yeah, I'm not messing with that either. Worse comes to worse, I sell my FTWs and get a couple of Classifieds. They get a 245 watt power limit, as opposed to the 215 of the FTW.

I don't believe that would be a wise move, it's just not necessary.

We all know that voltages does nothing to improve stability in these cards. The 280W (215W stock + 30% power limit on the slave BIOS) we get on the FTW is more than enough to keep a stable 1.062V through all imaginable stress situations.

Mine hit the power limit under heavy loads.... I never mentioned anything about voltages....don't much care about voltage, because I'm not running sub-ambient. I'm just looking for more power limit, without doing a hard mod. The Classy gets it there.

I just mentioned voltages because I thought you might say: "but at 1.093V I'm hitting power limit...". Anyway, I could never go past 120% with anything I would throw at it @1.062V. Did you hit the limit with synthetics or any other 3d application? I'm just curious, really.

I hit the limit on my FE playing games such as Fallout 4. Granted I'm also at 1.093v but at lower voltages the card is not stable at higher clocks.

No....with a good PSU, you can pull 300 watts from a single 8 pin. Pascal isn't going to be limited by a single 8 pin. = )

With a modded bios, Sure.

But the max wattage according to regulations is 150w for the 8pin & 75w for PCI-E. So 225w total.

Also, I have non ref MSI cards.

4k synthetics. And it wasn't constant, but enough to notice. The extra 30 watts at 100% would probably get rid of it entirely.

I was responding to this portion of your statement, where you said: "Currently they all OC the same because of bios limitations, When that gets fixed FE will be limited by the 1x 8pin." Which isn't true. We all know the limitations of the stock bios. wink.gif

I'm not surprised to see it, as it has always been like that for many years for nvidia.

however the news are just kind of too soon

they pretty much release the Titan version of GTX1080 back to back, and now they even want to throw in the Ti version of GTX1080... that's a dumb way to do business IMO.

It's most likely a prototype. in the past Ti versions comes out after another new release of Something new has been release, say for example GTX1180, then they put out the Ti version of the previous model GTX1080Ti.

So, this time not having something in the middle before the Ti version, it's bit unexpected.
