In the meantime if you REALLY want to see the difference between our classified's and a FE edition and also 100% of other cards out there in terms of its power delivery system which I can see this is important to you -- download "HWINFO64" - goole search and also the "EVGA OC Scanner" from EVGA site and run the first furmark GPU core burner from within the OC scanner and watch the GPU's power in HWINFO. Make sure your on the "slave" / aka LN2 bios and set power limit to 30%. Also download GPU-z and watch the "PerfCap" in 'sensors' tab and you'll see how your card will not throttle until it is drawing 320W - -this is where our classified's will really beat a FE which is capped to 180w. It really depends on what game your playing and the environment at the time. :-)

Well I do not really care that much about the power delivery, it is just a shame and really unfortunate that the FE with their stock blower style cooler, 180w TDP, single 8 pin and a really simple (in comparison with the Classy that is) power delivery solution beat my classy... I am really thinking about RMA'ing it cause it whines the whole time when I game while the rest of my system is almost dead silent...

Your Classified could be clocking at 1960mhz and drawing 320W on Furmark doing 100 FPS.

The FE could be clocked at 1970 and only drawing 180W on Furmark doing 80 FPS due to power throttling.

Your Classsified still wins.

Also, the clock rate is only 'part' of what makes up the entire architecture, the difference between 2000mhz and 2100 on pascal is probably 1-2FPS

If you'd bought a FE and had the same luck with silicon lottery you'd have a 2000 max clock FE with a 180W power cap instead of a 2000 max clock Classified with 320W power limit. I know which one I'd rather have :-)

Anyone with a GTX Classified 1080 could you tell me what your fan RPM is at 100% ?

Mine is at about 2800rpm -- just want to check it isn't running slower than it should.

Yep, if you need to run furmark at 340W+ then FE isn't the card to have.

I don't disagree and I have nothing against FE but if you took your GPU off the Classified board and repacked it as a FE it wouldn't perform half as well as it did before.

You could have been just as "unlucky" with the silicon lottery on a FE with FE cooler/5 phase VRM your card wouldn't be getting to where it is now. And even if you went 'water' on your FE your still limited by 180W power limit. I was pulling nearly 260w on a directX 12 benchmark the other day.

If you took 10,00 random Classified's and 10,000 random FE and compared the averages the Classifieds would win hands down.-- and there is nothing wrong with this at all and no reason for a FE owner to say that they don't want to hear that their £600 card isn't as good as a custom 1080 because that other custom 1080 owner may have spent a lot more money.

I don't know about America but here in the U.K. that difference is between £150-200 which translates to $186-248

My max fan rpm is the same, you're all good.

I see you mention more than once to set power limit to 30%- what do you mean? The lowest the power target slider goes in Precision is 36%? Are you really saying 130%? No matter what I adjust in settings my max stable OC is always 2088mhz. I'm pretty sure if someone ever cracks GPU boost 3.0 I will be stable at 2100mhz+. When my voltage dips below 1.093v due to temps going over 60C it can't maintain 2100mhz. It'll either crash (if I force the core clock up to stay at 2100mhz, the voltage won't increase along with it---> crash) or downclock to 2088. So annoying, but beast of a card nonetheless and I'm happy with 2088mhz.

I do not agree with you wink.gif .
More, particularly on 1080p and 1440p smile.gif

For example in Fallout 4 on 1440p +100mhz on core is about 7-8 fps more smile.gif

Yes sorry I meant 130%.

Also I just read something somewhere saying that MSI afterburner now allows you to lock the voltage at each point on the curve so you can test for stability at each point to build your curve.

I can't wait to try it myself and see how it affects games/FPS. I hope I read it right lol... coz to be honest what I just described should now be a "basic" in these overclocking programmes when you consider GPU Boost 3.0.
