I doubt someone will be able to without a heavily modified bios and a seriously beefy custom pcb

in my case 2025mhz was very easily stable and with perfect temps (below 67C at max temp with 70% max fan speed), my limit was the power limit

Super good news!!!!! I hope they some how figure a way to manufacture the blocks so that the original RGB on most of these AIB 1080s will be usable. I see everyone after the EVGA cards but I like the backplate of the Strix with its RGB design plus my build is a ROG build. How come people are all about the EVGA only it seems?

Yep, EVGA honor warranty when remove cover which is perfect for watercooling folks.

I'm waiting on the MSi Aero 1080 599 usd, by then I'll just keep returning this 1080FE to micro center complaining about fan noise and coil whine lol.

just played around in my case to improve air flow and cooling, sorted the wires here and there, relocated the gpu to a higher slot, moved the sound card and intel 750 pci ssd as far as possible from the gpu and here is what happened, my gigabyte G1 gaming runs cooler now, max temp is 55C on 100% load tested with asus realbench open cl while max fan speed is 66%, of course the gpu clock is the still the same 2025mhz and again I confirm it was 2025mhz 99% of with very and extremely minimal drops to 2012mhz (I mean those drops was for just a friction of a second I wouldn't have noted them if not for gpuz and in gaming it was always 2025mhz all the time ZERO throttle below that, tried with shadow of mordor maxxed out 4k for about 45 mins)

now I achieved that with the OC profile on gigabyte xtreme engine and both power and temp target and maxxed out but with STOCK VOLTAGE, and as per gpuz the perfcap reason was the vrel which means its the gpu voltage . . . . hmm, how about since my temps are cool I try to play a bit with the voltage? how risky it is to increase the gpu voltage? I'm afraid as the card is still new and I have heard horror stories about overvolting gpus which tends to die quickly unlike increasing cpu voltage which seems a lot safer

suggestions?

low risk to raise the voltage using the OEM tools. the core will downclock if it get too warm.

pretty sure increasing voltage to what a program like Gigabyte Xtreme Engine or EVGA Precision or MSI afterburner allows you to isnt dangerous, its part of the OC they offer

but you can also google a 1080 OC guide on guru 3D http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_1080_overclocking_guide_with_afterburner_4_3,1.html

Perfect! That is my cut off for sound on the FE card. Got my card flashed to a SC. Stays around 1950mhz without touching anything.

Yeah, I don't even see an increase in afterburner. It must be boost 3.0. Doesn't matter what you set it at, it does it's own thing. I even tried the PT mod.. CLU on shunt resistors.. and it didn't do a damn thing. The only thing you can do is put the card under water for slightly higher and more stable clocks. But since most cards will run 2050 while gaming, the gains of gaming at 2150 are almost nonexistent.
