Setting up a custom fan curve doesn't help, it still spikes up a few times before it reaches a stable temperature (since you asked, poll rating is 2s with 2C hysteresis).

It's an EVGA FE.

Doesn't seem too bad then. As long as it isn't constantly doing it while using a web browser or something other than gaming. If I stick to the stock heatsink, I normally manually set the fan to ~70% anyway.

Is the fan as loud as the old reference blower? Some reviews said it isn't as bad as the old one.

No, it's not that bad. The new blower feels slightly quieter, but don't quote me on this, I've only had the previous reference blower for a few days.

I have one question to a specific group. Those who gamed at a single 980ti before. How much did your experience change after upgrading to 1080? It would be great to hear it from people who tried both GPUs..

Once again people, enjoy your new GPUs thumb.gif

No difference from what I can see(@1440P), I reckon we'll have to wait for the 1080Ti to see a noticeable difference.

I've got a 1080 FTW EVGA pre-ordered, will see what clocks I can get out of it, hoping for a solid 2100mhz, I've owned a 980 overclocked to 1600mhz, 780 Ti to 1250mhz, 970, 980 Ti 1500mhz so I'll be able to compare for you, since I'm playing at 4k I'm willing to bet I'll see a difference since any performance uplift will be welcome at that resolution tongue.gif

As nice as that would be, you'll see around 40fps quite a lot. I'll let you off though as the hype train has barely left the station tongue.gif

Well, it was documented on video so....
