the G1 or the 'extreme gaming'?

Extreme gaming, the G1 this time around (I think) is the reference card with just a different/custom cooler. It even has the original 8 pin power connector only.

fyi

According to the Gigabyte Guy on OCUK the G1 is a custom PCB with 8+2 Power Phases, it does still use a single 8 pin as you say thumb.gif

Received my MSI Gaming 1080 today. Getting more than double the FPS I was getting on my Titan OG.

100% PEBKAC error.
Not true. At all. Reference, AIB Custom boards... Doesn't matter. Please stop spreading misinformation, thanks.

dear sir, I'm not spreading misinformation, I was getting crashes, bsods. random restarts like there is no tomorrow when I was using afterburner 4.3 with my g1 gaming 1080, to the degree that I suspected something is wrong with my overclock, reset bios to default with no benefit, i tried everything possible, i almost gave up and thought something wrong with my cpu and/or mobo to the degree that i was abt to buy new build!!!!

suddenly i decided to uninstall afterburner and try gigabyte xtreme engine, and guess what?!! no crashes! no bsod! no random restarts! my pc is back to rock solid stability, i even did the usual stress tests again to be sure (linx, ibt, aida64, realbench) and hell yea its STABLE!!

I'm not saying afterburner is bad, i know its the best and i used to use it all the time btw, its just that i think its not compatible with the g1 gaming 1080 and that's based on my own personal experience or maybe because its beta, i don't know neither do i care, my advice is if u have the g1 gaming then use the xtreme engine.

I agree. Afterburner 4.3 Beta is messed up with the G1 gaming. The custom fan profile does not work. With the custom profile on, the fans always run at 25%.

I have been using the xtreme utility but GPU boost 3.0 is very strange. I only got 40 MHz with a +100 core offset. I can't get the card past 2000 MHz. How you had any success?

I think so but check EK's configurator to be safe. You'd need to do something to cool the vrms tho, the benefit of the ACX cards is the baseplate works really well for vrms...just get a fan on it and all good. I put one of the temp sensors from my aquaero right over the vrms and it hasnt gotten over 45C yet.

I have a full block coming in a couple of days but I may stay with this for now, tired of shelling out for a new block and backplate each time I buy a new gpu.

To make the Thermosphere work with the EVGA baseplate it has to be modded like this:
