Your best option is probably a full cover block. Don't cut the baseplate, I'd imagine that would void your warranty.

As far as mounting pressure and structural integrity with modding the thermosphere, no it still tightens up just the same...its a metal bracket held down with metal screws...never had a problem securing it as designed.

That's a shame :|
I'll return the FE and hope thet MC has a 1080SC or something with an ACX cooler soon.

Not bracket, it's EVGA hybrid cooler (see link in sig)

Curious...

For those with the Asus Strix, do you think the RGB backplate will still work with a third party water block installed?

Why not just wait for AIO kit for FE?

Waiting!?!?!?! Waiting!?!?!? No that's a good idea actually.

Anyone know if there is one in the works? Seems pointless to do full waterblock this time around.

Add me to the world of pointless, as I just received my EK GTX 1080 fullblock from PC Performance and will have a Zotac GTX 1080 FE shipping tomorrow from Newegg.

I already have a custom waterloop on both my 5960x rig and 4790k rig so my graphics card was going under water. I will watch to see if I have any "thermal throttling".

I intend to run the GTX 1080 in my 5960x rig and replace the 2 R9 290s with the single GTX 980TI SC.
