Thanks for posting this TK421! I found it very helpful in doing the same on my 1070 FE card. Here are the pics: https://imgur.com/a/Vwaw0
I was actually able to install the whole setup without removing any part of the backplate. This wasn't super easy as I had to carefully use pliers to remove the fan connector. The trickiest part was then getting the hybrid fan connector back on which took some subtle wire bending and quite a bit of patience. It probably makes the most sense to pull everything apart so you can route the wires on the opposite side of the card compared to how I did it. However, if you have some dexterity, there is barely enough room to get things done like I managed (just make sure all wires completely clear the squirrel cage fan).
Pascal seems to respond very well to watercooling. I am now at 45 C under full load and my max overclock went up as well (about 2126 core, 9300 memory). I hit ~20,600 graphics score in Firestrike max OC on the stock blower and was able to break 21k OC easily under water. So not a big jump, but the best part is everything is now quiet and the boost clocks are consistently high, no more bouncing around.
