GTX 1080 FE/REF Hybrid guide (minimal tools, clean look) - Page 6

Make my own hybrid to. But but i modded my hybrid kit with a bigger rad of a h105, very cool now, temps never pass 38/40° and i can oc to max 2160mhz without extra voltage. I have successfully put the cover of the original cooler, without cutting anything, simply remove the plexiglass and remove the top plastic of the pump, and i control the pump in the motherboard. Sorry bad English.

So the 1080 cooler mounting dimensions are the same as the 980? Does anyone have exact measures? Wondering if this will work on the 1070 FEs as well.

Is the EVGA hybrid cooler significantly quieter than the FE coolers run @ ~60% fan speed? Or at least the same? My current setup is decently quiet, 4x YL D12SLs (are those even a thing anymore?) with a dead silent junk WC pump for my CPU stuffed in a flimsy paper thin aluminum Corsair case with no added sound deadening. To me, the 65-70% range is where my 1070 FEs get "loud". Very impressed with these. Quietest reference coolers I've ever had.

Thanks for posting this TK421! I found it very helpful in doing the same on my 1070 FE card. Here are the pics: https://imgur.com/a/Vwaw0

I was actually able to install the whole setup without removing any part of the backplate. This wasn't super easy as I had to carefully use pliers to remove the fan connector. The trickiest part was then getting the hybrid fan connector back on which took some subtle wire bending and quite a bit of patience. It probably makes the most sense to pull everything apart so you can route the wires on the opposite side of the card compared to how I did it. However, if you have some dexterity, there is barely enough room to get things done like I managed (just make sure all wires completely clear the squirrel cage fan).

Pascal seems to respond very well to watercooling. I am now at 45 C under full load and my max overclock went up as well (about 2126 core, 9300 memory). I hit ~20,600 graphics score in Firestrike max OC on the stock blower and was able to break 21k OC easily under water. So not a big jump, but the best part is everything is now quiet and the boost clocks are consistently high, no more bouncing around.

Well, after seeing these on Amazon for $68 a pop half a dozen times, I finally pulled the trigger on a pair. Not a clue how I'm going to stuff them in my midget case, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Hopefully these can get me consistently over 2ghz boost clock with less loud.

Okay, I bought a GTX 1080 Founders Edition (Got it cheap for $800AUD)... Well, we all know the GTX 980, Titan X and 980 ti EVGA Hybrid Kits shrouds don't fit on the GTX 1080 Founder cooler, BUT I think I know a way to get it to work and fully install it....

And this is where my question comes in. Can a GTX 980 TI reference cooler fit and be installed on a GTX 1080 Founders Edition PCB? So that then, the GTX 980 ti Hybrid cooler shroud can be fully installed onto the GTX 1080 Founders Edition?

I mean, it should work, right? I just want to know before I buy the Hybrid kit and GTX 980 ti Reference cooler. I've searched all over Google and no one has done it before, so I don't know if it will work or not.

I'm talking about putting this.

On this.
http://images.nvidia.com/geforce-com/international/images/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-internal-Front_PCB.png

Then this.

On this.
http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9306/GeForce_GTX_980Ti_3Qtr_NoShroud.jpg

Which is on this.

Please tell me I am not crazy and this may work?
