GTX 1070/1080/TITAN X(2ND GEN) BIOS - Who has it? - Page 17

GTX 1080 ROG Strix arrived yesterday, first Nvidia since the MX 200, great card so far.

I'm using the XOC bios. I can run it on 2137 mhz without any problems. It's not getting very hot (61c @ load) but it instantly turns itself off above 2137 mhz. I've tried upping the voltage, and I've tried the stock bios, but there doesn't seem to be any difference in any scenario.

Will be actively following this thread and see how things develop. Hope I can contribute somewhere. Exciting times! biggrin.gif

and how to mod? i would not flash original why original bios have fan acx and my is founders. i not would use afterburner, i want just a little oc forverer XD

People with experience in modifying through hex editor are modding the roms, but we cannot flash those mods at present because we need to sign the rom so that nvflash doesnt abort the upgrading...

Need a new version of nvflash, hope Joedirt has some time to tweak...

*power is in mW, first number is for 100% power limit, second is max

Hold on a minute here; am I reading this completely wrong or what is going on with these? The power draws of Gainward Phoenix GS & Palit Jetsream & Palit Gamerock seem a bit odd? It draws more than maximum allowed spec off the MB and then doesnt draw anything off the 6-pin connector?

The cards have 8+6pin connectors. What the heck?

I have tried all this bios from other gpus even de xoc with no power limit an 1.2mV reached and such and still my original founder bios give me better score on firestrike overall im talking about 1000+ points or more at the same clocks as the other bioses..

I agree with you in almost everything, except for xoc bios, which helped me to reach a better overall score in FS Ultra, bumping scene 1 fps...

In Heaven and games I get better fps with original Founders...

Would be great trying a bios mod based in original Founders rom...

+1 to this. My FE can't handle over like 1.09v or so before crashing/artifacting no matter the clock speed, so I would like to see a standard FE BIOS that has just the power and thermal limits removed so that they don't drop any boost bins.

alright you guys, you think this bios would work on my 1070 Amp Extreme?

it's got dual 8 pin with plenty of phases for some good power delivery.

really hoping voltage bumps will help this card OC like crazy compared to stock.

The cards have 8+6pin connectors. What the heck?

I think I might know why.. When I look at those values I see power defined for an 8-Pin and a 6-Pin PCI-e, based on being familiar with the typical power assignments for each. I realize the GPU only has one PCI-e power connector but the BIOS appears to have support for two (sounds to me these guys may be using the same BIOS for multiple models). The motherboard PCI-e power has NEVER exceeded 75W in any Maxwell BIOS I've ever seen. In my opinion the values that are labelled "motherboard" are actually the 6-pin and that screenshot doesn't show the motherboard PCI-e power, it's there but needs to be found. I could be wrong but this is how I read it.

175W + 99W = 274W (makes no sense to limit overall power to 240W when the BIOS defines 274W)
175W + 75W = 250W (total power of PCI-e is 250W however the overall power dictated the max limit which is 240W. This makes sense.

240000 MAX OVERALL POWER FROM ALL SOURCES 87000 (DEFAULT 6-PIN POWER)99000 (MAX 6-PIN POWER) 162000(DEFAULT 6-PIN POWER) 175000 (MAX 8-IN POWER)

For this GPU since it only has a 6-pin it would be this, where the PCI-e motherboard power is missing
240000 MAX OVERALL POWER FROM ALL SOURCES 87000 (DEFAULT 6-PIN POWER)99000 (MAX 6-PIN POWER)

I respect the progress that's being made so far and the fact that we are this far already shows us that there's a real potential for the "brains in the house" to figure this one out. I don't mean to point out a flaw (and again I could be wrong) but I think we still need to locate the PCI-e power location from the motherboard I don't think that's it.

Hey Laithan, any guesses at how much power is drawn on an FE card at 2275mhz and 1.2v? That is what I was able to achieve with XOC bios however, performance was lower than FE bios at 2100mhz. But the card itself held up fine in all of my games and benchmarks. I would guess ~280w maybe? I know there was significantly more heat coming off my radiator.

Also if you remember the 980ti reference with 6 power phase running pretty good at 1.3v. Maybe this is just my bias as a Fanboy Edition owner but I think perhaps single 8 pin and 5 power phases will not be too limiting. If you are willing to run way out of spec...
