The exact same max clocks. The only difference is that with the XG bios the base clocks are higher.

Flashed it, but performance seems to suffer compared to the GB and FE Bios...

Which model of card did you flash this to?

Is the Strix OC a reference card? I may try this on my 1070SC if so.

It is custom PCB, different power phase, still only 1 8pin though.

Hi, just a noob question.
Is it that I can only flash the bios from a card that has the same brand, same pin, same power phase?
For example, what other bios can be flashed into a MSI 1070 Armor OC?
Thanks!!

This is like a BIOS orgy over here redface.gif

DISCLAIMER for anyone that is thinking of flashing another card's BIOS! (Click to show)
I won't recommend (for what my lowly opinion is worth) that anyone start flashing other vendor BIOS'... I totally get what you're trying to do but you are taking risks.. out of desperate measures. Pascal is making people take risks because there is a clear need for additional power and the community has been able to tell that some other BIOS' have a higher TDP/Max power defined. That's creative thinking for sure but the CORRECT action would be to take YOUR GPU's BIOS and MODIFY IT to increase the power (and other things).

We just don't have a Pascal editor yet...and who knows, maybe we never will... but this is the correct method and WHAT WE NEED..not to flash another vendor's BIOS from a completely different design.

There are some cases where it IS perfectly fine to flash another vendors BIOS, I'll briefly cover this now...

a Reference BIOS is fully compatible with all other reference boards of the same GPU.

GPUs with IDENTICAL PCBs are compatible (Like the WF3OC and G1)

A CUSTOM PCB solution with hardware changes that vary from a reference design have a customized BIOS for that hardware. Flashing one of these to another DIFFERENT customized board is taking a risk. It's like ripping out a trans-am engine and throwing it into a camaro... sure MOST things might fit just fine but will it be a perfect match? Flashing a CUSTOM PCB BIOS to a REFERENCE board is also taking a risk.

I'm only trying to make people aware, not trying to be Debbie Downer... JUST BE CAREFUL and educated.

Just sayin....

PS. I know that some have had some "success" by doing this but you should also keep in mind that GPU variances are normal. 100 points in 3DMark is considered a normal variance/margin of error. Unigine Heaven is more consistent usually. If anyone runs 3DMark 3 times in a row you will get 3 different scores usually with ~100 points total variance. Power usage is based on GPU workload and settings used and must be an identical comparison (exact same test, same settings, same scene, AVERAGED over a series of identical runs).

This thread is just scaring me now and I don't want to see anyone run into any problems with their brand new GPU....
