Stability testing?

Try using FFXIV Free benchmark @ MAXIMUM PRESET running @ 4K

* Excellent GPU stability test! Pass this 3x in a row, you're pretty much stable.

* Uses a LOT of power! A good test for any GPU's power limit.

* Generates a LOT of heat! Good for thermal testing.

* Challenges ANYONE's maximum STABLE overclock. Works your GPU(s) VERY hard! Uses many different graphical scenes to create a good collection of rendering and workload scenes. Don't be surprised if you have to lower your O/C to pass this.

* It's FREE

There are other better options but are not free. FYI

Share yours wink.gif

I'm going to warn you ahead of time, I've noticed that the Xtreme Gaming has a different cooling system, which is very effective since I haven't gone above 62C yet... and with Custom fan, haven't been above 55C. Also, even though the Core and Boost Clock says what it does for the specs... it seems this BIOS boost Clock is 2000mhz+. So there is little room to add Core because of it. (Mine on OC mode is around 2075-2100mhz)

^I don't know if normal or not. It never drops below 2000mhz with throttle. Unless it has very low load.

Core Clock
1695 MHz in OC mode
1670 MHz in Gaming mode

Boost Clock
1898 MHz in OC mode
1873 MHz in Gaming mode

Can I flash this bios in the EVGA GTX 1070 SC ?[/quote]

I'm fairly positive you can... but at the same time, it's probably unsafe in a sense that our cards probably have different Custom PCBs. Since the XG Bios might be more tailored for the Gigabyte PCBs and etc. But don't quote me on that, I just thought I read something about it and how it "may" or "may not" do harm.

IMO though, I say just try to be patient and wait for the Pascal Editor lol.

I can confirm that flashing the Gamerock 1070 to Gamerock Premium 1070 works fine. Since I used the original BIOS posted here by chrcoluk, I used the official version 5.292.0 of nvflash. I tested it with the recommended FFXIV benchmark and it usually runs somewhere between 2050 and 2076 MHz while not getting any hotter than 70°C at about 1000 rpm now, so I can't complain. smile.gif

What's the power limit on 1070 G1 Gaming?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1Qi8fxIi_Y

after this my card is not even hitting 90% power target, and uses even more voltage than its suppossed to be,
1.091v still cant clock any higher than 2.1k~ doesnt matter which bios. With this mod and power target
not beeing the problem anymore its clear that most 1070 are "gimped" right now duo to not beein able getting
higher voltage. not like the 1080 which can go up to 1.2xx if I am correct. we all can stick with our original bios,
wont get "that" much better, power target is not the issue to clock more its the blocked voltage we cant control.
have to wait till we can use moded bios´s

disclaimer: I might be tottaly wrong tho I´m a noob at this biggrin.gif

ps: dont get me wrong tho with the mod I am rock steady at 2.1 and the card does not clock lower/hits power limit,
but I stuck at 2.1 duo to not beein able to give the card more voltage.

Depends...on my card the highest I've seen was MSI Gaming X +120% but better do the HW mod besides..while jumping from bios to BIOS is not the smartest thing as some are not spinning fans correctly, same cannot Oc memory correctly...or other anomalies can be observed. Quite simple and easier is to shunt the RS3 smd capacitor...of course if your card is not from a brand putting sticker with warranty avoid on them...

thanks, so the achievable overclock for you only raised slightly but raising TDP did remove any throttling so the clock stays put.

Interesting that you hit a low voltage ceiling, but I still hold hope when we get a bios editor this stuff will be easier.

Damn I was really hoping for a bit higher... need BIOS tweaker ASAP... if this keeps going I might have to get some CLU.
