Ok nice. This is what I was talking about!

But the question is..... is this bios rly bringing more performance or just higher clocks and volts ?

Some ppl have said that already that its just "visual" and you are not rly getting 2300MHz performance but rather 2100MHz(just an example).

Pls test and report back. Compare with stock max clock bios vs this one. thumb.gif

Hello there fellow PC enthousiasts

I just bought 2 ASUS GTX 1080 STRIX OC GPU's to replace my old 780's.

Does anyone have a clue if i will be able to flash the EVGA FTW 1080 Slave BIOS on the ASUS ones without bricking my cards? The EVGA FTW slave bios has a 130% TDP limit instead of 120.

I don't want to be bothered by powerthrotling since i'm going to put these baby's in my custom waterloop.

Thank you!

if you guys read a few pages in the beginning this XOC bios dont offer any performance increase with the clocks given over your regular FE bios..

If you read a few posts up, you will see that there is a new version of the XOC bios which should resolve the performance hit issues.

I don't know for sure... I thought someone was but that person has been quiet so real life may have trumped the efforts... it seems we have have a portion of the talent (at the very least) in this thread alone as some have been able to discuss offsets and how to find values (admittedly over my head... just not my cup of tea).

For example (Click to show)
Kepler tweaker can read many Maxwell settings.. neither one of them can read ANYTHING in a Pascal BIOS. They seemed to have made multiple changes to the code (cummon now it's basically a Maxwell GPU with a die shrink so they can't say it was required). There is now enhanced 'security/brick wall to the modders' to keep us out. Design changes. Not only is the entire voltage table and mechanics likely to be different (my guess based new voltage controls we now see in EVGA Precision specific to Pascal SKUs). I'm guessing power would be defined the same way in the BIOS but it appears that the location where that information is stored is different and possibly DYNAMIC.. (I thought someone said it's not found in the same place within all Pascal BIOS'). Encryption associated with signing the BIOS might be an issue after we edit it (I'm not clear on this).

Man has overcome obstacles much more complex and challenging than this however at the moment we're forced to wait until someone (or a workgroup) SMART ENOUGH can figure it out.

I say again, there was no need to do this to us. Once we've paid the enormous PREMIUM PRICE for these cards we should be able to do what-ever-the-heck we want with them! If we decide to void the warranty SO WHAT? That's our decision..

If NVIDIA made sports cars you wouldn't be able to beef up the engine and program your ECU....I really think it's a slap in the face to consumers on top of all this over the top marketing. Let the modders play!

Thanks for this. A very good tip indeed! Good to see you stop by wink.gif

that is modded for 2x8 pin bios from other card with 2x8 pin are working on 1x8 pin cards or 1x8 1x6 pin so on
this one does not so stay away you can fix the card with second card to boot the pc and flash the bricked 1080
with other bios

I'm not going to say "I told you so" (ok maybe I just did)... don't want to be "that guy" but really peeps, please be careful.

The wild wild green west... (did you expect any different NVIDIA??)

IMHO, if your PCB design isn't 100% identical to the PCB used on the BIOS you are about to flash, you are risking creating a brick (NOT saying it WILL happen, it's just the point where your RISK skyrockets!). Even things like fan motors can be different from one GPU to the other and we've seen people say RPMs were effectively lowered.

Congrats, I think you've hit the silicon lottery. cheers.gif

Many others that flashed a BIOS with higher voltage did not see any gains. This is a really awesome clock and I wish I could MOD the BIOS to see what your GPU could really do biggrin.gif
