So i am running a 5930k right now, mild OC to 4.2ghz, but i found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117676
Should I pick it up? it would be interesting?? especially since it is only 174 bucks??

Let me know what you all think before it sells out thumb.giftongue.gif

If you want that one you could pick it up, but ebay offers better deals on used CPU's. I mean really, $60 for this thing used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Xeon-E5-2670-2-60-Ghz-20-Mb-8-Core-CPU-Processor-SR0H8-115W-/191762219822?hash=item2ca5eb432e:g:d1EAAOSwll1W0DF3

I thought the same thing, I ended up finding a used 2690-v3 on eBay for about 80 bucks more, about 500mhz faster. I bought it, we will see how it runs. I really hope it will run in my x99-deluxe

Yeah, ofc why not? tongue.gif If it's not good or doesn't work you can send it back.

I bought a E5-2670 off aliexpress for €50. Haven't tested it yet but my i7-3930K (bought it for €140) from ebay works great.

I was kinda surprised to see how well the E5-2670 ran, especially compared to the more expensive CPUs. A video I saw on YouTube showed it had really good benchmarks, and good gaming performance.

could not agree more. The only issue is that it is not specifically listed on the MB, i really hope it is a case of ASUS not giving it a try. There are other 12c24t Xeons on there. We will see thumb.gif Hopefully it ships from HK today (tomorrow here). DHL tends to only take about 2-3 days.

Have you received and tested things out? I was thinking of building a 2670 single or dual socket build for a workstation as I need more threads for what I'm going to be working on and I was interested in how it was going.

i ran with the 2690 ES chip for about 3 days, really it was an outstanding chip. I got it to turbo on all cores close to 2950mhz and it ran multi-threaded applications like a champ. It stayed cool and pulled very low Voltage. It worked well in my ASUS X99-deluxe which I am running the 3101 BIOS.

All in all, if you need 12c and 24t, 300 bucks was worth it.
