Concerning 6700k Temps? - Page 3

Voltage thing wasn't really solved by using balanced mode, still bounces around a lot bur what scared me was every few seconds it hits 1.456v....

Should I turn off multi-core enhancement as mentioned above, set a manual voltage, or adaptive? I'm pretty nervous guys, I am in no means an expert in voltages and am wary to change settings that I don't understand in the bios.

You can manual to 1.35vcore and go from there. That should do 4.4 - 4.5 ghz core on almost all CPU's.

If you want to run at Intel stock clocks & stock voltages - try simply disabling Multicore Enhancemt, leave everything else on defaults
If you want to set manual voltage (eg 1.35v) - should be stable at stock clocks (or even higher, but stability testing required), but vcore won't drop at idle
If you want to set adaptive mode - vcore will drop at idle, but for adaptive mode you need to find a stable offset voltage - more testing required?

Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, I tried installing the NZXT Cam software, and as soon as it installed, the pump has been making the worse damn rattle I've ever heard, I've uninstalled Cam, but it persists...

Why.... I swear I always play it safe, don't OC, clean install things and there's ALWAYS one problem after the other.

Update: I seemed to have fixed it by setting q-fan control in the bios to PWM mode as opposed to Auto.

I get what you mean by the temperature increasing and decreasing wildly in 2 seconds instead of a gradual gentle cooldown over 5-10 seconds.
It seems impossible to me too that the chip drop from max temp to lowest idle temp in 1 update.

On water it happens very quickly, mine drops instantly from 46-47 to 28 in non games. A lil longer in games water is a bit warmer.

Should I be concerned that my 6700k at stock hits 71c with a Kraken x31 while playing GTA V?

Being that's I've never messed with voltages before, what setting would I use so it dosent go passed let's say 1.25 but
Is still able to idle at .7-.8 as it does now.

Seems normal for the voltage its running at and for a single 120mm rad. Also case ambient is what matters not actual ambient temp lol. Ambient temp could be 15°C but if the air flow is poor case temp could be 20°C.

So no change in vcore & temps after you disabled Multicore Enhancement in bios?

I have my 6700k running at 4.5ghz with 1.28v. The stock voltage set by my Gigabyte board was 1.260v. If you only want to run at stock speeds, I would suggest manually setting voltage at 1.260v and then monitor temps. Leave C-states and EIST on auto as this will allow your cpu to idle down (volts and speed) when not under load. I use Corsair H55 but with dual-fan setup (push/pull) across radiator and my temps under full load (1hr of Prime95) get to 75C while I idle at 28C. After an hour of Witcher 3 and Need for Speed, I have gotten to 71C. Also, for skylake cpus you should be using Prime v26.6. best of luck to you!
