Concerning 6700k Temps? - Page 5

I disabled Asus Multicore Enhancement and after playing the same amount of GTA 5, the temps hit a maximum of 65 as opposed to 71.

Does the cpu still turbo to 4.2 with this off?

I dont see why it wouldnt, the thing with turbo is it doesnt boost all your cores. You can download intel extreme tuning ability and it will tell you everything you need to know and then some.

Here you can see how mine processes it at completely stock all auto settings in default and how i have my OC set. See how it only boosts 2 at 3.9 then 3.8 and 3.7. With the OC i hve all cores boosting to 4.5 therefore it ends up rendering the whole package a bit warmer.

I see, thanks for that.

Also as you mentioned switching to Adaptive mode, it gives a an option to put either a - or +, then an offset? What should I enter here?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge ahaha!

Not a skylake guy lol, def download hwinfo though and run that while gaming will give you all your voltages and core clocks and everything else.

If I put another 6700k in my motherboard, would it default at a different voltage?

I'm seriously thinking about buying another one just to see what happens, or because I'm using the same motherboard will it still default to 1.344?

As Intel XTU & P95 uses AVX2, vcore may shoot up unless using fixed or adaptive modes that sets an upper limit. That's what we found with offset mode. Didn't try with auto voltage but suspect same, so advise to monitor vcore closely for anything that uses AVX2..

Edit: whoops, just realised in 2nd example he was using P95 version with AVX not AVX2

So with Multicore Enhancement disabled what is the vcore now, below 1.3v? I believe this is the truer stock vcore for your 6700k chip.

ALRIGHT GUYS PROGRESS!!! I was extremely nervous to mess with the voltage as I've never done it before, but I said to hell with it.

So I set Adaptive Mode:

Booted into windows fine, CPU idles at 0.752v, and I used ROG RealBench Stress Test and passed it with maximum core temps as followed: 71, 68, 63, 67 (as opposed to 85c max with 'auto' voltage when it would hit 1.4+)

My maximum voltage during the stress test was 1.216, when I set 1.320...? Can someone help me understand that?

How does everything look guys? Is keeping things as is safe? Again, I've never messed with settings like these, so I'm quite scared.

Thanks again!

vdroop , under load vcore is drooping . If its stable all is fine . If not LLC (load line calibration) can be set to keep vcore from dropping under load . not a fan of auto settings when dealing with vcore , id suggest setting a value to offset voltage . I'm not awake enough to think clearly enough to suggest that voltage atm lol ... need coffee(s)

I'm seriously considering picking up another 6700k. I think I just got really unlucky and got a bad chip.

Update: Ran Prime95 again and cores maxed at: 53,49,43,49

What should I do guys...
