Everyone relax, 1080 was compared with the 980 too, the RX480 can be better...

Considering the 380 is 200$, the 480 should also be priced at 200$ and the 480x will be priced around 250$---> This also depends on how serious AMD took expanding the TAM for VR.

Getting Fury/980 performance to the masses (previously 600/500$ cards) for half the wattage, and half the price, is not something to be upset about, it's actually pretty amazing. These chips were never meant to compete with GP104, Vega and GP102 will come in time, for now just enjoy the show.

So now it all depends on how improved GCN 4.0 is over it's predecessor.

Hopefully that's the cut down version, otherwise there's no competition with 1070 and the prices will suck for a long time in the high end. If the fastest Polaris only reaches 980, it really can't sell for 300$, that would be such a disappointment after the 300$ 980 Ti rumors and 1070 being 379$ at least in theory.

I can see why AMD would want to ditch Hawaii as soon as possible, but I'd rather see them introduce a 300-400$ GPU with more grunt rather than equal performance to 390X for slightly less.

don't forget that AMD use the new iteration RX-480 ? what ?

so there's no way we know if this is a full or cutdown chip.

I don't think their highest priced gpu will be $250.

Sorry, you don't decide what is a fail and what isn't.

Let the market do that.

They are aiming at the mid range and low markets first, which is where the most of the turnover is.

Bringing low power graphics first can be used can be used in big contracts with Apple etc, as well as many mainstream consumers you play on 1080p.

Hey I'm not saying you are wrong, you might be right, but I'm not feeling the theory right now due to what we've been told about Polaris and it's reported position in the market.

One thing, if the SKUs that we saw are 2304 cores and 1266Mhz parts, that gives me 5,833TFLOPs. So why only up to 5.5?

You guys seriously believe that the highest priced GPU will be $250?
Because that RX480 should be priced around 250, or it will suck.

They do have a higher tier.

If cutdown SKU have GTX980 performance then FULL should be around Fury performance.

I'd assume its cut down. I thought the 480X is the full fat, but maybe they changed the naming etc.

No idea. I am looking forward to whats coming tonight smile.gif

$249 or below it is a winner, anything above that i just dont know, might have to look and see if it overclocks well.
