Don't have a kill-a-watt, but just tried setting up FAH. I'm not sure if I did everything correctly, all I did was install the FAH application, plugged in my keycode and the OCN team number.

mad.gif Crud....I was hoping higher. O well, seems I will be waiting for big die then. That barely 150K higher than a 970 on a light OC.

Hmmm, though you just started that WU. Can you let it run that for a few hours so it settles its PPD?

Otherwise I think I going to nab that 980Ti that on sale on Newegg. tongue.gif That should put me at having 970 G1 Gaming, 980 STRIX, and three 980Tis in my GPU army.

Blah! I see your problem now! Stop folding on the CPU and put it at full. CPU impacts GPU since GPU needs threads from CPU to feed itself.

I got my 1070 in, but I have to troubleshoot my system as to why its not installing the drivers for it. Unfortunately I couldn't finish troubleshooting before work, but latest signs point to a stagnated OS build. My windows 10 has a received likely security updates only since being installed, but the build itself is stuck on 10240 which apparently is the initial launch build and should be on something like 10530. Attempts to update the OS failed and I have to resort to installing a win10 updater which is where I got cutoff before leaving for work.

Apparently there have been a number of people to when upgrading to 10 from an older OS never actually got updated builds installed post launch build, and this is how I am find it out. I always wondered why when I saw M$ doing scummy things like putting more ads in the start menu never effected me. Its because I wasn't updating. tongue.gif

latest win 10 build number (non-insider) is Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.420) per winver

Yeah just gotta wait till my shift is over to get home and fix the problem and hopefully install the drivers. The system recognizes the card is power and connected but refuses to install the drivers. Doing the drivers manually ends with it saying the drivers are incompatible with my version of windows. I thought they had meant my OS but if its the build then it would make sense why I keep getting that error.

Does anyone know when will Nvidia release the $379 version? I just sold my 980 couple days ago and waiting for 1070. mad.gif

Nvidia doesn't have a $379 version. You will have to wait for EVGA, ASUS or Gigabyte to release one. No one knows when that will be.

I wanted to sell my 980 but I ghetto rigged the heatsink with some ziptie fans after the fan controller died, and unless I manage to get $230 for it I'm not taking it, lol.
I was going to buy a arctic aftermarket cooler and put it on but I think I'll just keep it til it dies and put it in my sons rig to replace his 5870, and then pick up a 1070.

The fact that 1440p gaming on a 980 even @ 1500/8000mhz hovers around 60-70 fps in most games and I don't really find that acceptable on a 120hz panel.

What do you guys think about going with a 2nd 980 instead? That's 1080+ performance for $~230 or so.

Can you try to put back the original fan and then send it in for RMA? Once you get your RMA back, then sell it? If you can buy a second 980 for around $250, then SLI makes sense.

Its such a tough call with SLI scaling in new titles (the ones you would need it most), as well as the power difference and noise factor, but its the cheapest way for me to get to 1080 performance.

I'm debating picking up a 980 Ti if they drop to $300 or less. So many choices...
